#0001 – The Queen Resists
Based on Simplicity 1868 circa 1956 with a few changes.
I used a lot of hats in this portion of the project, as a stand-in for the elaborate hair which wouldn’t have looked right with the midcentury fashion. But hats work and help keep the silhouette where it needs to be. Fur trim became a fur stole and moved the embroidery directly to the dress instead of on a tabard. A small mermaid style hem takes the place of the wide hem of the original.
