Quistis Trepe- Final Fantasy 8

Made for: Halloween 1999

Background:While technically my first costume was from the year before, I don’t have photos of it and it was an original character anyway. So generally I consider Quistis to be my first costume. 🙂 My mom and grandmother helped me with it once I decided on this for my Halloween costume that year.

Patterns Used: None

Top/Skirt: We picked this peachy coloured stretch knit for the whole thing. My grandmother made the top and skirt without a pattern, and trimmed it with some brown knit. The sleeves we made and attached at the top. The shirt zips up the front.

Accessories: The pants I had, the boots I bought. I borrowed the belt from my dad (and never gave it back – wonder if he missed it?) The “cummerbund”/waist piece was made out of the same brown knit material – I made the pieces hanging down tassles instead of chain, because at the time, I didn’t know where to buy chain! The whip I bought at the party store.

Updates: I wore this a few times after Halloween 1999 just for fun – I replaced the pants with brown tights and wore different boots, and added a wig. The white backdrop photos in the gallery below are from 2013 with an all new wig.

History: It’s held up pretty well over the years!
