we’re home!

Had a nice do-nothing weekend on our cruise 🙂 Here’s a quick recap.

We got into New Orleans around 10 and was on the boat within an hour. We couldn’t get to our room until 1:30 but we were able to eat lunch in the meantime. We got into our room and it was really nice, much bigger than last time I went on a cruise (12 years ago? LOL). We even had a window.
We ate in the dining room the first night – instead of being big tables with random people seated all around it, we were at a booth for four… awkward. Luckily the other two people never showed up.
The food was great the whole trip. The first night I had steak, second night lobster. My only complaint was the watered-down tasting cokes. LOL. They did allow you to bring one small cooler with you so I’d brought 6 cokes in a cooler with me, and the guy who cleaned our room everyday actually kept ice in it for me. Awesome!
Friday was our day at sea, we looked around the ship and laid out and read. Chase took lots of pics. We mostly just relaxed, napped, read and ate. Ha.
Saturday was our day in Cozumel. We went to the beach and had a great time. We were back on the ship by 3, so more napping and reading commenced LOL We ate at the grill instead of the dining room that night – they had good chicken tenders and hot dogs!
Sunday was our second day at sea and… guess what we did! just hung out and we spent a lot of time on the upper deck watching as we came into the mississippi.
We got back into New Orleans around 4:30 this morning. Our deck was the first one called to de-board, around 6:30, so we were in our car by 7am! We went down and had breakfast at Cafe Du Monde, walked around for a few minutes and then got on the road and headed home.

I’ll post more later. Here’s a few pics I uploaded from my phone.

Towel Animals! I love towel animals!!

So overall I had a good time. It was a very different cruise from the one I took to Alaska 12 years ago… more families, more focus on “fun” and a different array of people cruising. (Alaska was mostly retired folks and focus on casual sight-seeing and relaxing.) Chase never got used to the boat rocking – not sea-sick or anything, he just couldn’t get used to the swaying. He doesn’t think he wants to do another and I’d be ok with that 🙂 But we had a good time and good food LOL
