that moment…

that moment you get your costume to the point of finally trying it on. isn't it fantastic? Sorry I haven't posted in a few days; been busy at work and busy sewing every night. Over the week I've finished the beading on Marie (although I have a handful of beads leftover I may go back and toss on), finished the stomacher and both sleeve flounces, and also worked on one ...

FOOT! Follow Up

Went in for my post-op appt this morning. He took all the bandages off (YAY! Felt amazing to finally get all that stuff off.) and looked it over. Said it looked great, I don't need to come back in. Just put peroxide on it everyday, keep a bandaid on it, keep taking my medicine. He said it should be back to normal in about 3 weeks. It's still pretty sore. I ...

i can’t concentrate

being on the pain meds makes me feel slightly drunk and drowsy, and also all over the place, I can't concentrate on anything. which results in this: honestly she wouldn't stay out of my way while I was working on it yesterday (see? wouldn't get out of my lap.) So I think she must think it's for her! I've gotten jack done today; I've alternated between feeling nauseated, head-achey and ...

FOOT! Updates and beading

I dozed off an on yesterday, got the beading on my dress mostly finished (want to go back and add a few more to the top, but technically it's finished), and did something wasn't supposed to do: unwrapped the bandages on my foot. They told me not to, that the doctor wanted to do that at my follow up tomorrow morning. But last night my whole leg was absolutely throbbing ...

I tried to sew with my feet and it didn’t work out so well

(recap: July 2nd I caught the side of my foot on a broken, bent sewing needle stuck in my carpet in my sewing room. 7/6 went to the dr and was put on antibiotics and got a tetanus shot.) So my foot got a ton better last week. I had finished the antibiotics Wednesday, and by Friday I was walking normal, I even rode my bike that night. Saturday morning I ...

Marie Antoinette Progress Updates

Ash and I went shopping sat morning - then I spent all sat afternoon and most of sunday beading Marie. I can't believe it but I'm over halfway done. on my schedule I thought I'd still be doing this well into August. After the beading I just need to finish the sleeves - I need to put together the other blue one, make the second set of blues ones, make ...

Marie Antoinette progress pics

here's the dress as of last night: And a couple of detail shots, The detail along the bottom: and the sleeves: None of that is done; I get to sew on all that trim tonight (its just pinned on) and I've got more work to do on the sleeves.

FOOT!

Last night started making the blue trim for the dress. I like how it's coming along. Today I had the doctor's appointment. I hated to go but this was one instance where I wanted to be there and get this taken care of. It was really hurting this morning, to the point after I made it to the bathroom to brush my teeth, I just sat on the counter for ...

Marie Antoinette Progress

got a good bit of work done this weekend, mostly getting all the silver trim done. It's all just pinned on here: And starting on the lower sleeves too, obviously. I started on my blue trim last night, but it's taking a lot longer than the silver did. It's hard to get a pin through the blue fabric, and my fingers were sore from trying to push pins in after ...

Marie Antoinette & K-9 Progress

posting updates without pics is useless, isn't it? Hem is pinned, sleeves are in... but I think I may take the sleeves out (which is a pain, because they were awful to put in) and see if I can squeeze some extra space out of the shoulder hem. I feel like the bodice is sitting up too high, thus the skirt pleats are too high. I think the stomacher is ...
