Dress:

I picked up the fabric on ebay (stretch faux suede), and I used a basic dress pattern for the dress. I drew out what I thought the bottom of the dress looked like based on my references – from that, I started cutting the skirt up. I also added another layer underneath, and I decided not to cut the slit up the side quite as high as hers. I made the belt out of the same fabric. I did the stitching up the front seamlines with some thick leather cord I found (it was a PAIN to work it thru the fabric – pliers were needed LOL), and added the sleeves out of white cotton. The sleeves have a little drawstring closure made out of the same leather cord as the front stitching.

Accessories:

The sandals I bought online, not happy with them – they’re the only uncomfortable part of the costume. The wig I also bought online, and sewed the braid to it at the front edge. Added the wrapping around the braid, it’s the same stuff I used to do the stitching up the front of the dress. I wear the wig as a hairpiece – the front is my own hair, the wig starts at the braid line.

In 2019 I restyled the wig and once again got new sandals! Those updates can be seen in the “2020 Photoshoot” photos above. The wig looks SO much better and these sandals are so much more comfortable.

History:

This is such a comfortable costume and easy to wear, so I’ve worn it a lot. I wish all my Leia costumes had such easy hair!
