Rally Vincent – Gunsmith Cats

Made for: N/A

Background: I thought it would be a challenge to recreate her hairstyle in a wig, so I gave it a shot.

Journal Entries: Read more at my Rally Vincent tag

Wig: The wig is the major part of this costume of course… I started with a shoulder length brown wig and cut it at an angle. Then I wired the front pieces into the shape I wanted and covered them in glue. When they dried, I still had to do a little trimming and shaping, but it was pretty close. Then I did the other side, and it was done! It’s held up pretty well over the years, too.

Clothes: I bought the skirt and jacket on ebay, and made the tie out of red fabric, because for some reason I couldn’t find a plain red tie anywhere. The white button-up shirt I already had.

Accessories: I already had the tights and had the shoes (they were my prom shoes!). The holster I bought online, but it’s way too big and is a pain to wear. I usually have to have someone tape it down in the back to keep it on.

Black Suit Version: In 2003, I wanted to reuse my Rally wig, so I picked out an outfit from the comics that would be fairly easy to assemble. Almost everything I already had from previous costumes or out of my closet – the jacket, boots and shirt were out of my closet, the pants I’d bought for another costume and never used.

History: I love this costume and really need to take new photos one day.

2024 Photoshoot: In 2024 I dragged 4 costumes from 2002 out and shot them on the white backdrop including this one! Several thoughts – the wig is a mess. I did the best clean up I could do but there’s only so much to be done since it’s all glued LOL. This is probably the first time I’ve ever had the holster on correctly thanks to my husband. The skirt does not fit anymore; thankfully the blazer hid the partially unclosed zipper LOL. The shoes are probably going to have to be thrown away in the future, they are covered in little hairline cracks.
