Leotard:
I bought the leotard online and altered it – though I ruined my first leotard 2 days before I left for AX trying to cut the heart shape into it – I had to run out the next day and buy another leotard from the dance store (thank goodness they had a plain black leotard!) and make all my alterations again. Honestly worked out for the best because the second leotard was much nicer quality than the first. This time my dad made a wireform for the heart shape, and I sewed the fabric around it so it wouldn’t pull out of shape when stretched. The feather trim on the shoulders I found at Hobby Lobby – I love it! (My cats did, too, haha.) The sleeves I made of a cotton stretch knit, dyed, and then attached them to the leotard.
Wings:
The wings I was never terribly happy with. I made a wireform and gave it body with some batting – I loosely taped all that down, then covered it in the black vinyl. The spines of the wings in the middle I made of a more bendy wire, and the lower half of the wings were sewn around them. The horns I made of sculpey and wired to the base. I attached them to a D-ring, which was sewn onto the back of the leotard. The head wings I made basically the same way, and wired into the wig. They’re removable to I can replace them with my Lum horns again if I need to. The big wings were attached to fishing wire which I wore looped around my wrists, so I could hold up and move the wings around.
Accessories:
The wig was my Lum wig from the year before. I bought the pink tights and added the bats – they are made of craft foam and I just slip them down inside the tights when I put them on. I bought the boots on ebay and cut the top off.
History:
I wore this to a couple of cons before it went into storage – where the pleather on the wings started breaking down. I managed to get a handful of new photos before I sold it as-is.
