MidSouthCon 2008 pics

Friday night – like I said we didn’t go to the con that night, we stayed home and watched the game.

Anyway, Saturday morning we got up pretty early, I put on Belle, we loaded up the car, got some breakfast and headed over to the con. Unfortunately it rained and stormed all day long, so it wasn’t fun going back and forth between the hotel and the car. We did find a decent parking space, went on inside and of course the hotel wouldn’t let us check in until the dead-set check in time of 3pm.

So Chase and I just hung out in the lobby… walked around, and eventually went and attempted lunch in the hotel restaurant – which was nasty! LOL oh well. We wandered some more, and eventually sat in front of the big screen tv in the corner of the lobby and watched TV LOL (hey if you won’t give us our room, we’ll just make ourselves comfortable in your lobby!)
Finally at about 10 til 3 we went to see if we could get in the room. She checked us into one side of our suite – the other side STILL hadn’t been cleaned. I changed while Chase went and grabbed a few of the bags.

I wish I could have a suite like this for *every* convention! We had a huge bedroom room, and then it adjoined to a giant sort-of living room, with a dining room table and a small kitchen with a fridge, sink, etc, and another bathroom. I was like, dang, we could live here!

Anyway, I put on Scarlet Witch, while Chase put the drinks in the fridge and set out food for the party later on.

And then we just wandered around and acted stupid and took stupid pictures.

As for Scarlet Witch, the colour of the bodysuit washes out in the flash. I think I’ll redye it. I originally had it darker, but I used colour remover on it to attempt to take out that stain that had gotten on the knee — it got the stain out but of course I was left with a very delicate pink – I thought that might work ok, but yeah, it just washes out too much, so I’m going to dye it again.

The headpiece was making my head hurt, so we went back to the room and changed and I took a catnap, then got up and put on ewok Leia, and then it was about party time.
We had a perfect turn out, it was a lot of fun — the best part was absolutely the cake Starla made for us.

The only inedible parts are the snowglobe, the “rings” of the scrapbook and the gold piece everything is sitting on. She even recreated our invitations!

I am so freaking honoured that she made this for us… it was really, really sweet and I can’t thank her enough. Our wedding cake is going to have a hard time living up to it!

Ash and Melissa came up, we crashed on the couch and watched basketball and chatted and ate and had a great time.
Once everyone kinda drifted away, to go to the dance or whatnot, I had wanted to go back downstairs but Chase was too tired, so we called it a night – since we had to get up early the next day, anyway. So yep, up early, packed, and had a hard time getting everything to the car because it was POURING… ick. Then we went to my shower which is another lj entry for another lj on another day… but yeah, it was a fun day, good times 🙂
