So you know Monday my car had to have 2 new front tires and an alignment. Got that done. Today I went to leave for work, and my battery is dead. Wouldn’t take a jump. Chase had to take me to work and then I had to beg a ride from mom since I’m off early today.
Last night we had a good dinner, Chase put a roast in the crock pot before work and it smelled SO good when I came home for lunch! On my way home at the end of the day I stopped and got some potatoes to make mashed potatoes to go with it.
It was REALLY good!
I offered Luna some but she wasn’t interested.
Costume updates!
I need to get some ribbon to finish off the sleeves still – get that tomorrow.
I’m about halfway done with painting the skirt!

My pattern weights work really well at holding the stencil down flat when I paint the basic shape on.
Here’s what each flower looks like right out of the stencil…
Once I have that in place, I go through and beef up the petals freehand and add the pink dot. So each flower is different.
The hardest part is the top row, right underneath the pleats. I guess I should have done this before I put the skirt together, but whatever at this point, I’m managing it ok.
So what’s left…
-Get ribbons/get sleeves attached
-handtack the white sleeve part in place
-finish painting flowers
-get hook and eye installed at waistband and bodice
-get ribbons made for shoes
-try it all on, see if I need to raise the petticoat hem
Also I just had a realization — I’ve worn the same shoes with all 3 of my new costumes this year. I bought these pink suede flats for Disgust. I wore them with Edith at Megacon just because they didn’t stand out too much. Now I’m wearing them with Tightrope Walker. And I was going to wear them with Queen Arianna too! (But I’ve put that off til next year probably – we’ve changed our mind on our Halloween costumes which is good because my September is PACKED. I didn’t really know how I was going to find time to make Chase’s King Frederic. So next year probably.)
