It’s not just any monday it’s the monday before my ~~**BIRTHDAY**~~
I kinda forgot about it honestly because it’s just not been on my brain. I’ve been kinda stressed out.
Sewing room clean up continues.
Finished putting the closet back together. Got a new bin to fit the homeless costumes in and reorganized everything that was hanging up. Now we’re onto the fabric clean-up.
Cleaned out all my fabric storage bins. Threw some scraps away, set some things aside to donate, refolded and made everything look nice. Next was digging into the bins that are in the attic space.
Now I knew 3-4 of the bins in the attic space plus a garbage bag was all stuff that I’ve been given over the years. Most of it is from when a theater closed down a few years ago, I got several bins of fabric and bits and pieces. I could have sworn i went through it all, but apparently not, because opening them up this weekend was actually kinda shocking LOL
MOST of what i found went into the donate bins – lots of “kids” fabric, like cartoon cars and things. Along with some other things I Just felt like I’d never use. I did keep a handful of some basic things, a shimmery fabric, a black satin, a white cotton with white dots. I did also keep a ton of this very 70s, very stiff lace, because I felt like it would make a nice petticoat and i could use a new petticoat.
Among the things in the bins that shocked me was a couple of strange finds. First, a large black cotton jumpsuit. Like, a mandalorian style suit. Clearly homemade, probably something made for a show. I kept that, going to see if Chase could put it to use, and if not I’ll put it in our clothing donate pile.
(Also, there were a bunch of Hancock bags in one of the bins that just made me sad!)
Second was what looked like an Edwardian style walking dress – heavy black fabric with a back section of pleats and large, shaped waistband. I kept that aside too. Not sure what I’ll do with it.
But the third thing was the fur. I knew i had a bin of fur remnants from when the theater did Narnia. We went through them to see if something would work for Beefsquatch last year. At least, I thought we went through them. Turns out there were TWO bins of of fur and not just one – I guess I got them mixed up and thought I’d gone through everything whenever they came to me a while back.
The second fur bin was more interesting than the one I’d already gone through. The first one was mostly craft fur remnants. This second bin was some entire costume pieces, and some REAL fur. There was one piece that looked like a real fur jacket that had been cut up and reassembled to look like a fur hide. There were 2 sort of fur capelets/a sort of odd jacket, one was faux and i think one is real. I kept those. So now I have an entire bin of fur to put back into the attic space… but at least it’s one less bin.
At the end of yesterday I had 2 bins for donate and 3 bags of trash. Mom called a friend of hers who is art teacher who has set up a sewing space in her art room and she is taking ALL of it! Including the trash bags! She said she thought it’d be good for the kids to go through the scraps and see if there’s anything they’d want to use. I’m so glad I can just give all of this somewhere where it will be used!
Saturday we went up and hung out with Daddy Bob for the day.
On the way home we stopped by my parents’ house to see all the yardwork they’ve had done.
They’ve had a ton of clean up work done on their property, a few trees taken down, and trees cleaned up. It looks more now like it did when they moved in out there nearly 30 years ago.
Sunday we met up over at kevin’s to go through a bunch of stuff that belonged to my great uncle and aunt, and we had dinner too.
And of course Kevin and i played with snapchat filters.
the stuff that belonged to my great uncle & aunt was mostly photo albums. We all went through them and pulled out anything we wanted to keep – most of the albums were pictures from their vacations, so some albums just had no pics of people at all. Just pages and pages of snapshots of the Grand Canyon or Alaska or Italy, etc. Loooots of cruise paraphernalia – they took their scrapbooking seriously, they kept every piece of paper from their cruise, every brochure, every itinerary, every nametag and all of it was carefully scrapbooked along with their photos. In one album of a Canadian trip, they’d collected maple leaves and put them in the scrapbook along with everything else. How cute!
My great grandmother (my dad’s grandma). I’m pretty sure that’s some wide-legged culotte style pants. I love the style.
A distant relative; I think the back said she was born sometime in the 1830s? But had to take a pic because her married name was Piper. I had no idea there were “Pipers” in my family, just thought that was interesting since my site mascot was “Piper” for so many years.
If I ever release an album, this is the cover.

I did bring home a box of stuff to go through here. It’s all of their cook books basically. Several really old ones and a few that were obviously company cookbooks put together for fundraisers, like “Cooking with Medical Assistants” (my great aunt was a nurse). I’m going to keep a couple and donate the rest, but I wanted to sit and look through them.
Also brought Kevin’s nintendo switch home with me to try to figure out what the error that comes up when he tries to buy something is.
Of course this weekend is MCX so I kept Valkyrie out when i put everything back in the closet. I opened it up to do a quick glance through, because I thought I remembered last time I had it out, there were somethings that needed repair. But nothing jumped out, everything looked ok. I still need to try it on, I had intended to do that yesterday but when we got home from Kevin’s, we were both so tired we just sat on the couch for a while then went to bed at 9pm LOL
So i’ll do that tonight. And next week I should hopefully have some costume stuff to talk about here LOL
