weird dream

I meant to tell yall about the weird dream I had the other day in yesterday’s post, but I forgot. So it’s a rare second post within a week from me.

I have convention dreams pretty often but they are usually about Dragoncon. This was a rare non-dragoncon convention dream.

So, I dreamt I was at the Huntsville Con we are going to a few weeks. For some reason I had all of my stuff in multiple duffel bags, like 6 huge heavy duffel bags. I was also alone for some reason.

Got to my hotel room with my gazillion bag over my shoulder and set all my stuff down, got it all unpacked. Was going to settle in for the night because it was the day before the convention started. Decided to go take a bath — went into the bathroom and discovered it was a mess. Like the toiiet had had a problem and plumbers had come in and disassembled everything and there were parts and tools laying everywhere.

So I got on the hotel’s app on my phone and was able to switch rooms without talking to anybody. Gathered up all my bags again and went to the new room. New room was exactly the same, unpacked my stuff. Went to the bathroom again and it was totally dark, and in the far corner I could see 4 shadow-y figures just standing looking at me. My feeling in the dream wasn’t that these were real people but ghosts and it REALLY freaked me out. I noped right out of the hotel room, leaving all my stuff and went downstairs to the front desk.

At the front desk there was a huge long line and only one person working. After standing there forever without the line moving, I decided I’d go to the convention help desk instead. (dream logic, like the convention help desk could help me with a hotel problem).

I get to the convention help desk and they’ve got a line of those little tables with the banners above them – like dragoncon badge pick-up – and they’ve got several people working. Across from this line of little booths is a huge waiting room. The walls are lined in couches, and the line for the help desk is all sitting on these couches. As one person is called up, everybody just moves over one seat.

So I get in the end of the line, and over time I start chatting with the girl next to me who is sewing and turns out we kinda know each other. Then the couple in front of her starts chatting with us too, and over the long long time we are in line and slowly moving down the couches we all become friendly.

Finally I get to the end of the line. They call up the next person and I stand up – but so does the girl who was sewing. She walks right up to the booth and past me. I was so exhausted and just wanted to get my room figured out so I was like “hey I think I was here firsT”

And she said “No, you skipped me.” And then I thought about it… I had been last in line this whole time, with her right in front of me, but somehow at the end I was now in front of her. I was completely embarrassed and apologized and sat back down.

Finally somebody called me up, and by this point, they’ve shut down the waiting room, lights are off, only lights coming in are from the outside area with the booths. So I’m just sitting in this huge dark room by myself waiting to get called.

So I at last go up to the booths and explain my problem to the guy, who is super nice. But he says I should’ve gone to the hotel desk first. I said I tried, but the line wasn’t moving. He said, “Ok, let’s call the hotel together and see if we can figure this out.” So he tries to call the hotel on this ancient 80s landline. No answer, so he says “Ok, let’s go to the front desk together.”

So we walk to the lobby to the hotel desk, and now there’s no line. The one lady working there patiently iistens to my story, and i suitably grossed out by the bathroom situation in room one and agrees I was right to move. The I start to tell her about room 2 with the ghostly figures and kinda pause because she’s going to think I’m crazy right? And all I can think is oh god if she doesn’t agree with me and move me out of that room, I’m going to just have to leave. I can’t stay in that room. I’ll ask this nice convention guy to help me get my stuff.

Aaand that’s when I woke up. So no resolution on the creepy ghost bathroom.

I WAS relieved to wake up and realize it was a dream and I wasn’t going to be going to the convention alone, so if there ARE creepy ghost people in our bathroom… Chase can deal with it.
