Those of you who don’t like stories about my stupid Sims games, abandon ship now!
So I started my game with a young man named Meow Lover. Obviously Meow Lover loves cats – but he doesn’t have one because I don’t have the Pets expansion yet. Instead, he expresses his appreciation for cats through his job in social media – he was a “Cat Video Creator” at his social media job (I imagine he was working for buzzfeed). He’s also an selfish, asshole hipster.
He didn’t have a ton of money but built a little tiny house on an empty lot — using the prefab rooms he put together a kitchen, a bathroom, a small office and a bedroom.
(Meow and Maki)
He camped out all day working on his social media presence and at night he’d go out partying. At one party he met a young lady named Maki Tanaka (she was a computer-generated sim who was just wandering around the party). They hit it off fast. He brought her home and she ended up staying the night. Aaaaaand the next day she wasn’t feeling so well, took a pregnancy test and she’s pregnant! (Hey stuff moves fast in the Sims, ok?)
So she moves in with him. And with her comes some good money and Meow Lover is able to update his living situation, adding a nice living room, a nicer kitchen and bathroom, and a bigger bedroom and a dedicated office (with the door locked to Maki. Otherwise she’d go in there and play on his computer when he has work to do.)
Next thing you know Maki is heading to the hospital to give birth…. and it’s twins! A boy and a girl they name Chickfila and Outlander.
But… Meow Lover is really not into this. He just wants to focus on his social media presence and his job. He can’t have babies screaming in the background while he’s trying to livestream for charity.
So he moves them up to the roof. He adds a staircase so Maki can go up and down to take care of them. He calls them “The Roof Babies.” But it quickly became apparent that this was not working because sometimes Meow Lover would have to go up there to deal with them. Plus, their relationship had deteriorated and they had broken up… they were not happy with each other at all. (I mean, would you be happy with a dude who said your babies had to go live on the roof of the house?) So he added a door to the staircase, made it where only Maki had access, and locked her out of the house so she would stay up there with them. He added a toilet and a fridge so she wouldn’t need to come back in the house.
Next thing you know the Roof Babies have become Roof Toddlers. Two toddler beds were added to the roof, along with high chairs. Maki is having to stay home from work (she’s a business lady) everyday to care for them, because Meow Lover is too busy pulling pranks on livestreamers. And I swear they were CONSTANTLY hungry and the game kept warning me they needed to be feed – they’d eat and 2 hours later they’d be starving again! So Maki had to stay with them to keep them fed. But it quickly became overwhelming for her, she was constantly falling asleep and was grungy since there was no roof shower.
During all this, Meow Lover soared in his ranks, becoming an Online A-Lister with 30 million followers. He made decent money at it but most of his living expenses came from Maki’s money.
Eventually the Roof Toddlers became Roof Kids. One day the Roof Toilet was broken, and Maki had an accident right on the sidewalk. She was really embarrassed but decided to smooth it over with the one witness – things seemed to be going fine until she decided to lie about her career. The Sim she was talking to didn’t believe her, and Maki went from EMBARRASSED to MORTIFIED. Before you knew it, she had died from the embarrassment.
Meow Lover wasn’t upset, they weren’t on good terms. He didn’t really want anything to do with Chickfila or Outlander, either – he had work to do, parties to go to. He realized he really needed to move — the suburbs weren’t the place for him. He ended up moving into a nice apartment in the city, and the kids came along – but they were locked out of his apartment, there was no room for them. So the kids would hang out in the hall, annoy the neighbors, or go downstairs to eat at the food booths, use the public restrooms, and sleep on park benches.
Meanwhile Meow Lover had noticed the super hot girl living across the hall from his new apartment. Her name was Penny Pizzazz (another Maxi-generated Sim). They also hit it off right away and became an item, going to awesome parties together and hanging out in each other’s apartments. Penny felt bad for the kids and let them use the bathroom in her apartment occasionally.
She moved in with Meow after a while, once again greatly increasing the wealth of the family. She was soon pregnant and Meow Lover realized they needed a bigger place for his new family (and the two Roof Kids). So they moved into an amazing 2 story apartment in the heart of the city. By now Meow Lover was at the top of his game – he was an Internet Superstar.
The 2 Roof Kids were still locked out and essentially living on the streets. But when Penny gave birth to their child (I can’t remember what I named him…) he realized he needed to reevaluate his life and take care of this kid. He quit his job and got a new job in the Tech Guru career.
Unfortunately Penny did not feel the same way. She had never been as into the relationship as he was. She had made friends with their new neighbors – a group of 3 stoner dudes. She wasn’t interested in Meow Lover’s new “normal” life, so she took the baby and moved in with the neighbors.
Meow Lover was upset. He had to get away from this apartment where he had hoped they’d build their life together. He moved into a much older, smaller apartment on the edge of the city. Chickfila and Outlander (now teenagers) followed along, though they were still not allowed in the apartment. They hung out in the hall while Meow Lover mourned inside, trying to rebuild his career. But unfortunately for Chickfila and Outlander, this new location did not have easily accessible food booths outside, and before anyone knew it, they had both died of starvation out in the hallway.
Meow Lover was more upset than he would have thought. He cried over their urns, brought them into the house. Immediately the hauntings began. Meow Lover was beset by the ghosts of Outlander and Chicfila. He had done them wrong and they weren’t going to let him get away with it.
Meow Lover had to move AGAIN. He had to get away from the ghosts of his past. So he looked to see what apartments might be available… and he he noticed a listing for the biggest, fanciest apartment in the city… and it happened to be occupied by one person.
It was Maki Tanaka. His ex-wife. His DEAD ex-wife.
Honestly I didn’t do this. I have no idea how the game stuck her GHOST there. I had to leave Meow Lover’s game and go check it out… sure enough, the game had stuck Maki’s ghost in this super fancy apartment. Some sort of heavenly reward for the abuse she suffered?
So I switched to playing her. She called up Meow Lover and invited him over, and they made up. She agreed to let him live there….
FOR NOW. Meow Lover doesn’t know it but he’s about to get what’s coming to him….
And at that point Chase said “can’t you play a normal Sims game?”
