it’s the weekly monday post

Friday was busy!!

So Wednesday last week I pulled out Belle to double check everything – it needed some roses replaced and some of the appliques sewn back on. And I needed to restyle the wig since I took it down for Dorothy. Then Friday I came straight home from work and started getting ready.

I experimented a little bit – I actually wore both my panniers and my round hoopskirt with it. Not sure it was effective but I wanted to try it. Then off we went…. I got to go be part of a “You’re going to Disney World!” surprise! Got there and there were a couple of backpacks on the front porch for me to grab… went in and we opened up the backpacks and they figured out pretty quickly where they were going (they left saturday!). It was a lot of fun!!

Then I changed out of it in the car, into regular clothes and Chase and I went to have a late dinner… and then to see The Disaster Artist! I really liked it. I was honestly just as excited about that movie as I am for The Last Jedi… I read the book a couple of years ago and loved it, reread it a few times and then Chase & I listened to the audiobook on one of our road trips last year. And gone to see the rifftrax live, of course. It was hard for me to separate the movie from the book I know so well by this point… but overall A+. I’d like to see it again.

We bought our tickets for Disaster Artist and TLJ at the same time, so Friday night when we got to the theater to get our tickets, they went ahead and gave us our TLJ ones, too. Cool. That took me back to the early 2000s when we’d have to send somebody down to the theater to get our tickets before big shows.

Saturday we had a few errands to run in the morning… which turned into all day, we didn’t get home til 3. Mostly Christmas shopping.

First Luna tried to pretend to be a stuffed animal.

One place we went was the Peanut Shoppe on summer. Used to go there all the time as a kid, it shared a space with a Baskin Robbins so we’d go get ice cream and go next door and look at Mr Peanut in the window or the old horse ride… or I’d get a snow cone at the Peanut Shoppe instead of ice cream sometimes. Well it’s closing at the end of the month after being around for 58 years šŸ™ So had to go see it once more. Unfortunately Mr Peanut in the window was already gone šŸ™

But costume Mr Peanut was still up in the corner.

And the horse…

Then we went by the hobby store.

Aaaaaand I bought stuff for myself.

They had a whole bin of loose Star Trek action figures/dolls. I wanted all the dolls. I ended up just picking 5 and bringing them home.

When we got home my new TFA Leia fabric had come!
I had kinda taken a chance on this fabric because it wasn’t expensive… I figured if it came and was wrong, I’d either just put it in the stash or return it (the site accepts fabric returns). Initially I thought it looked great…

But then I got it in and compared it to my outer dress and it looks way too green next to it.

So I contacted them to see if I could return it and just get a credit because they have other colours I’d like to try.
Although… I just went and checked my email to see if they’d replied. They literally just copied and pasted the paragraph about returns from the FAQ back to me. Yes, I read that. That’s why I emailed them so I could like… get more details about the return process? What address to I ship to? Is there a return form? How do I tell them I want a credit and not a refund? I don’t know, that just kinda turned me off and now I don’t want to get anything else from them. :\ There are other places I can order this fabric from for the same price.

Sunday was dryer day. Allllllllllll day. Last week’s post I mentioned how our dryer went out last week — I threw a tshirt in for a couple of minutes to get the wrinkles out and immediately smelled burning. So last weekend we tore it down, cleaned it out and put it back together… and it still smelled like burning. Tuesday night dad came over and looked at it with us, agreed something had probably gone bad in there.

So Chase ordered new parts — new heating element, thermostats, belt, etc. Those all came on Saturday so Saturday evening we took the dryer apart again, Chase got all the new pieces installed, put everything back together and….. after running it for a minute it now smelled like plastic burning and not just regular burning.

So Sunday morning was back at it, again. Switched some stuff out. Put it back together. Ran it. Still smelled. At this point we were staring down the barrel of buying a new dryer right before Christmas. :\ We went and priced some online, then decided to try just one more thing… took it part again, switched that out, back together and…… it smelled a tiny bit at the beginning but then dissipated. Ran a whole load with no problems.

Then that night we had family game night… except for Chase and dad who went to a concert instead, LOL.
First we played a trivia game.

TEAM DCON OWNED IT!

Then we played buzzword and that was hilarious.

The End for the weekend. Oh I do have a Sims story. But I’ll tell that in another post.
