1: What was your first cosplay?
Depends on how strict you want to get with the definition. I generally point to my Halloween costume of 1998, when I did a closet costume of Britan from my comic, SunDowner. If you say OCs don’t count, then my 1999 Halloween costume of Quistis which was my first foray into sewing.
Or if just wearing a costume to a convention is what you want to count, then there’s my Star Trek TNG uniform my mom made for me and I wore at MidSouthCon… 1989, 1990? There’s that, too.
2: Favorite thing to cosplay?
I like pretty things, like big floofy dresses and lots of fabric and trains and capes and drama.
3: Have you ever been in a panel at a convention?
Yes, I don’t know why anyone wants to hear me prattle but occasionally they do.
4: How many people do you think you met because of cosplaying?
Ahh… I have no idea.
5: What do you think makes a ‘good cosplay’?
Anybody who is obviously having fun and enjoying wearing their costume.
6: Have a cosplay blog?
You are looking at it
7: Ever done a group cosplay?
Yes. I’ll only count things as 3 or more people, and only things made specifically for a group. Powerpuff Girls in 2003. Han/Padme/Leia in 2003. Pern group in 2004. Belle for our Disney group in 2005. Ripley for Aliens group in 2006, Rogue for X-men group in 2006. Fluttershy for MLP group in 2012, Time Lords in 2012, Hocus Pocus in 2012. Glimmer for He-Man/She-Ra group in 2013. I’m sure I’m missing some.
8: Couple’s cosplay?
Lots of Star Wars stuff, Han/Leia, Clone/Padme, etc. Trillian and Zaphod, Glimmer and Bow. Spike and Fluttershy. Wolverine/Rogue.
9: When did you start cosplaying?
I started in 1998/1999 (see question 1), but didn’t really get into it as a regular, year-round thing until 2001.
10: Would you consider yourself good at cosplaying?
Sometimes.
11: Which cosplay took you the longest time to make?
AH… I dunno. I guess maybe Kingdom Come Wonder Woman, because I started on in 2006, put it on hold, and picked it up again in 2007.
12: Shortest time to make?
I made red Ms Marvel in a few hours over a weekend.
13: Do you like Genderbent/AU cosplays?
Why not?
14: List all of your cosplays.
Ahahahaha no.
15: Are you currently working on something?
Bunch of stuff for DragonCon.
16: Would you, if given the chance, cosplay at school/work?
I have. Gotten to be too lazy to mess with it anymore. Went to classes on Halloween in costume (though — I have a crazy story about that I’ll tell later) when I was in school, usually something simple. Always tried to wear something to work on Halloween, and sometimes had to change for events there. Last year my Halloween costume at work consisted of my Gryffindor quidditch jersey. Blah.
17: Do any of your IRL friends cosplay?
I’ve dragged most of them into it at one point or another.
18: What does your family think of it?
They like seeing what I make.
19: Do you consider cosplay an art?
Absolutely
20: Have you ever had to get help with a cosplay?
Lots of times. I call my mom a lot. “I don’t know what to doooo”
21: Least favorite thing to cosplay?
I realize it’s kinda funny to say considering how many Donna costumes I’ve done over the past couple of years – but anything that could be considered “street clothes” but something I wouldn’t ordinarily wear. Because people who don’t get what it is just end up looking at you like, wtf is she wearing. I’d generally rather go ahead and just be in a really OBVIOUS costume.
22: Ever been in a cosplay contest?
Yah
23: First con that you cosplayed at?
MidSouthcon 89 or 90. Don’t remember which. After that, Animazement 2001.
24: What’s your definition of ‘cosplay’?
Wearing a costume.
25: Favorite tumblr cosplay ask blog?
Uh… I don’t know any
26: Ever cosplay an inanimate object?
No
27: Who is your cosplay headcanon of your favorite character?
Uh I’m old and don’t know what this means
28: What is your ‘Cosplay First Aid Kit’ (what you use to repair a cosplay)?
Lots of stuff
29: Would you go pro?
if it meant I got to sit around and sew costumes for myself and travel while getting paid a good salary and health insurance, yes.
30: Who is your favorite professional cosplayer?
Me?
