This is a neat article about obsolete jobs, relinking from Ash.
One of the things that stands out to me is that we had a milkman/milk delivery when I was a kid. The article says only 7% of homes had milk delivery by 1975. I think we stopped getting it around 86 or 87? It’s a weird little leftover sort of thing that I’m glad I got to experience. We had a little metal box outside out back door, and mom would always ask me to go get the milk out of it on certain days.
I think the time I grew up was a wonderful little “in-between” time. I guess that can be said about a lot of decades, but… I’ll just say I’m glad I grew up without internet and listening to vinyl albums and allowed to run around the whole neighborhood after the ice cream man without my parents worrying.
Anyway – I finally returned my two netflix movies from last year. Yep, had the same two for a year. I’ve had Blade Runner for two years but I’m pretty sure it’s lost so I need to tell them that LOL
But they were supposed to come today and they didn’t. Our mailbox was hanging open (all the mailboxes in this neighborhood have a tendency to fall open) so I don’t know if someone saw them and took them or they just didn’t come. Usually I get them the next day, so it’s weird.
I’ll post today’s pic later, I’m hoping to finish one this afternoon.
