Summer Costume plans

In a vague sort of order.

1. Poison Ivy
I’m definitely doing this for Adcon in June — I’ve got boots I’m going to mod (hopefully, I need to get them out and see what kind of shape they’re in), going to reuse my Phoenix wig, and I’ve got a corset to mod on the way – should hopefully get here by the end of the week. We’re house-sitting next week, so I’m going to take my dressform and start sewing on leaves. I need to order my tights, and find some shorts or briefs or whatever you want to call them.
I’m looking forward to it, I think it’ll be an easy, recognizable costume to wear…

2. Giselle
Since I’m not going to get Starfire done in time for Adcon (see below) – if I can find fabric I like, I’m going to go ahead and do Giselle’s pink dress. I’ve kept an eye out for fabric all year – so far I haven’t seen anything I like, either the colour is off or it’s too shiny or too heavy, etc. I’ve got a wig – but it’s not long enough, so I may see if I can find extensions long enough to add to it, if not I’m just going to find another one.

As for Adcon – I’m thinking of taking Kingdom Come Wonder Woman, if we can fit it in the car. Definitely going to take my Rogue movie uniform (since Chase wants to wear Wolverine), Scarlet Witch, and maybe Marion (if I have time).
(no star wars costumes?? omg. LOL.)

3. Starfire
I’ve been trying to get started on this project for months now, but with the finances as they were with the upcoming wedding, I just couldn’t bring myself to buy some of the things I needed for it. The only thing I’ve got is my purple fabric for the actual bodysuit part/boots. I’ve got boots picked out, I need to buy them. I need to start buying wigs extensions, find a good bodysuit to airbrush, and get new body paint for my face. I’ve shown Chase the hard parts I need his help with (the collar, gauntlets, etc) and he doesn’t think it will be a problem.

4. Wonder Woman
Ah but which one?? LOL. Chase actually picked this one out. I had a few other variations in mind, but he showed me this one and said “You’re doing THIS one for Dragoncon,” so there you go. I’ve hardly started looking at it at all – one thing for sure, I’m getting a new wig because my old WW wig has had it. I’ve also tracked down what fabric I want to use – need to go ahead and order it because it took me a while to hunt down – and I’ve worked out what I want to do with the bodice, I think.
This WW is not going to be near as much work as the KC one was last year, but it’s still going to take some time, so once again we’re trying to get ahead of the game, Chase has already been measuring me for parts and wants to get started on the props ASAP.

5. Belle Ballgown remake
I talked about it a little in my last entry. I’m definitely going for the look of one of the park dresses, with a few tweaks to change some things I don’t like. and I think I’m going to spring for a new wig with this one, too. I’ve got to start looking at fabric – I haven’t at all. I need to make a list of things I need to find at the fabric store.

6. Dawn
Yeh, I’m actually doing a Dawn costume! It’s not actually a Dawn costume, it’s an original silly thing I came up with last year, and I realised I could pass it off as Dawn, so I’m just going to go ahead and go with that – not entering the contest or anything, but eh, why not. This should be fun.

7. Padme
I wanted to either finish my Padme nightgown for the Clone Wars movie — or either do the Tatooine outfit. I don’t know if I have time to do the Tatooine outfit, so I may finish the nightgown for it. I dunno. It all depends on how much time I have — if I don’t have the time, I guess I’ll just wear – mustafar padme or something (funeral is too big and bulky for a theater!)

8. Glinda of Oz
Book version. The dress is easy enough – I’m basically going to do the same thing I did for Ozma, except in pink, so just need a lot of fabric. The only difficult part is the hair – should be an adventure. Chase is making the crown for me.
IF I don’t have time/funds to do this, I may drag out all the parts of my Polychrome costume I never finished and finish that instead.

9. Sleeping Beauty
Chase wanted me to do the pink Sleeping Beauty gown – he’s even already made the crown and necklace for me! So I need to find fabric (man I need a lot of pink fabric for this dragoncon) – the purple one I’ve got in progress is serving as a mockup.

10. A “special” version of Belle
LOL this is for a group.

And Chase’s projects — a different take on Green Arrow, 2 clonetroopers… and he’s trying to think of something else, and hasn’t figured anything out. Sometimes it’s hard to figure out costumes for him with his goatee. (sometimes he ignores it, like wolverine and han, obviously) So if anyone had any suggestions I’m sure he’d be open to them 😉

As for old costumes for Dragoncon — definitely Scarlet Witch, Poison Ivy, maybe green dress Belle, Giselle if I do it, I might bring Funeral Padme back since I only wore it for like an hour last year and haven’t had another chance with it. I don’t know if I’m going to bring slave Leia or not. depends on how much room I have, and whether or not chase has fixed the top by then.

As for the lake dress — still haven’t had time to get pictures of it to put it up for sale 🙁 The main obstacle was when Chase finished the necklace and armbands – he painted the necklace with something than the armbands, and it looks WHITE. I asked him to re-do it and he said he would, but he never got around to it before the wedding. So he’s still got that on his work table – once he gets it finished, I’ll take some pics of it, and I guess I’m going to throw it up on ebay, I’m too lazy for anything else.

And… post-Dragoncon projects… Halloween is going to depend on what I do finish/what I don’t get finished this summer, because if one of the princesses in there doesn’t get finished before Dragoncon (Giselle or Aurora) – I’ll do that for Halloween. If not, I dunno what I’ll do.
But I have two winter projects I want to work on – a Padme, and to finally get started on the embroidery for Bespin Leia. I’ve got the basic cape put together, I have a mockup of the collar — I want to have it done for whenever/where-ever Celebration 5 is.

Wow! You have some great projects there! I’m DYING to know which wonder woman it is!! Any hints? I don’t know if you read the comics, but in one of the most recent ones (well maybe a month or so ago?) she fought against the Amazons, and was totally decked out from the armoury! The costume was the same as the one I have, but she had a shield, battle axe, short sword, long sword, bow and arrows!! I totally want to do that version next 😀 And Donna Troy’s WW armour! Though I have no idea how to do that yet 😛

I used crepe for my animated Giselle dress (I posted about it in April, with some photos if you wanna check it out, I wasn’t sure if you’d seen it with getting ready for the Wedding). I have to admit it irritates me that ever version I’ve seen of it thus far is done in satin. It’s not shown as shiny in the movie, so I don’t know why everyone does it shiny! I’m fixing mine up for a Disney group we’re doing in June, so I should have some better photos of it then! Unfortunately mine is slightly too dark, but if I can find a better match for colour, I will definitely make it again. But it’s a really hard colour to match! Anywho, feel free to check out my research, if it helps you at all 😀 (You can use the ‘animated giselle’ tag on my journal to find it easier).

Can’t wait to see what you come up with 😀

I only pick up the comics when I’m in a bookstore that has them – I haven’t seen that, I’m going to have to keep an eye out for it, sounds awesome! LOL
No hints yet, but as I start posting progress pics you’ll probably the one to figure out 😉
I love how your Giselle turned out – shiny definitely looks funny with it, so I’ll have a look at some crepe, thanks for the tip!

I think it’s issue 16 or 17? Somewhere thereabouts! It was one of the best issues ever, and really showed that yes, Diana is a soldier! She really copped a beating, and her costume was totally destroyed by the end *tear* But it was a really great storyline (except for the Nazi’s, they were just annoying!), and I really recommend it! 😀

Oooh I can’t wait!! 😀 I’m totally trying to guess now, and I think I might have a clue as to which one, and I think it also might be on my list 😉 But I’ll wait and see 😛

Thanks 😀 I was pretty happy with it, but some parts are still irritating me! I hate the piecing I had to do at the bottom of the front, and the colour! Oh sometimes it’s awful being a perfectionist! But it’s really only because I love the character so much, that I want it to be perfect! Crepe has the perfect drape for the dress, but I also looked at faille, and I even thought about using a chiffon overlay, just to get the right colour! You can also get stretch crepe, which I think would help getting it fitted around the waist and then flared from the hips 😀 I look forward to seeing yours! 😀
