Marie Antoinette updates

Didn't mess with the sleeves last night. Instead went through and replaced the non-matching ribbons on the inside of my hoops, put a hook and eye in on the waist, re-hemmed my petticoat (it was too long) and trimmed the netting. Pleated and hemmed the false front of the underskirt, finished the edge of the top of bodice and spent the rest of the night fooling around with how the ...

Marie Antoinette skirt update

I got a lot done last night! Got the skirts attached to the bodice, got the eyelets put in, and got the sleeves put together. Tonight I'll put the sleeves in, and then start working on the hem. I've got to figure out what I'm going to do on the stomacher so I can get it finished and get it attached - I'm thinking of leaving it plain since I've ...

Marie Antoinette & Garage Sale

Sorry I haven't posted in a week! This week was all just working - got a good chunk of the sewing done on surprise costume #1. I need to sew some snaps on, and finish the boots, and get a wig ordered. Beyond that it's pretty much Chase making parts. I took a break from Marie, because I just don't understand the pattern directions - I'm going to just finish it ...

Marie Antoinette Coming Together

everything just kinda pinned on. It's nice to get to that moment where you can finally "see" it taking shape. still got a ton to do... taking a break from it tonight to finish up my donna belt, and do some work on enchantress.

Marie Antoinette: Petticoat and skirt parts

Some Marie updates... (my panniers were riding a little low here) This was right after I got the petticoat pieces cut - I had just pinned it all on to see how it was going to look. It's finished now, you can kinda see it in the next pic. This pic kinda sucks, I took it on my way out the door yesterday just so I could show my mom. ...

a brief moment of panic

and then we're back to our regularly scheduled programming. Decided to keep the too-dark fabric, which worked out well since they couldn't exchange it for me. Redesigned the dress, and I like it better than my original design. So - yay! And the fabric is gorgeous, I love the colour - probably like it better than what i would have gotten, it was just the idea of redesigning that made ...

Marie Antoinette Fabric…

and it's absolutely NOT what I wanted. I'm so freaking disappointed, I don't know what to do. I guess it's my own fault for not getting a fabric sample; but I've ordered from this store dozens of times and never had an issue with the picture online not looking like the real thing. This fabric is MUCH MUCH darker than what I wanted. Like from being "light-to medium blue" to ...

Marie Antoinette & Lady Blackhawk Updates

I forgot to mention my hoop story yesterday when talking about my marie panniers. I bought some hooping last year for Lady Gaga that I intended to use for the hoops all around her. Week before dcon last year we decided they were too heavy which caused a lot of last minute drama. So I've had all this hooping getting in my way and being annoying for the past few ...

murray antoinette, hoops and corsets

So I remade the side pieces, and was a little more careful cutting around the tabs this time (a little too much so... I hardly have any tabs LOL) But it feels and fits much better, so whatever. I got the hoops in the panniers. Still have to attach it to the waistband, do a little handsewing on the hoop casings and get some ribbon to tie the inside into ...

frustrated… Marie Antoinette Corset

I finished my Marie corset, only to be totally unhappy with the fit. It's "ok" right now - a tad big. I already took it up a a ton and it's still overlapping in spots. The tabs along the bottom are stretching out too far, and it's not pulling tight around my waist - the only place it's pulling tight is around my rib cage, and I just don't feel ...
