The nastiest "critique" I've ever gotten in regards to my artwork was this: "Real artists use a ruler, why can't you?" It was in the middle of a very long, very unasked-for and very "holier-than-thou" critique, but that one line has been the part of it that stuck with me. The thing is, for that particular project? I actually HAD used a ruler.
