post-weekend

Had a nice weekend at my grandparent's. Shopped, ate, embroidered, napped, got rained on, fed a stray cat. I bought some decorative stuff for Anne but didn't find trim I liked yet for the top. Bought some fabric, fabric paint, some new scissors, etc. I've decided what to do on the Anne skirt seams. I'm going to redo 3 of them, instead of all - I know I should redo all ...

Anne update for today

I've been having trouble with the seams on the skirt puckering. I sewed the skirt seams like I normally do satin and they looked - fine. Not fantastic, but very minimal puckering. Passable. I finished the interior seams same way as I did on the bodice and the puckering went up by about 50%. Now they don't look so good. I tried all kinds of little tricks to help, but nothing ...

More Anne stuff

I really dug in to try to finish the skirt last night, but finishing the interior seams took longer than I expected, so that's what I did most of the night - they're still not done, still finishing up a few places. I did cut the pieces for my underskirt, and with what was left over, played with the cape/train piece: Here's the back uncovered before I started messing ...

We know drama

This is the good kind of drama tho. Like as in, dramatic dresses! I didn't get a lot done last night. Dinner took forever, so didn't even get in my sewing room til 9. I cleaned up, and cut out my new train pieces. Almost messed it up, but thankfully had enough to recut and fix it. As you can see it's so long that I can no longer fit in ...

weekend update

Friday night I went to see Monty Python and the Holy Grail at the Orpheum (part of their summer movie series!) with dad. It was a lot of fun; we sat in the first row of the big balcony and people had coconuts they were banging together so it echoed all over the theater LOL Saturday morning I embroidered - Saturday night I sewed. Sunday morning I embroidered - Sunday ...

Ugh

So I went to spend some quality time in my office last night. I went to grab the bodice pieces out of my pattern bag - they were already cut since this is the same pattern I used for my previous Anne in 2009 - only to discover they were not in the bag. I grabbed my two versions of the underpinning patterns, figure they probably got stuck in one of ...

Anne work commences

Part of the reason I was rushing on Peggy was so that I could get everything finished and the fabric scraps put away so I could have a clean office to start on Anne. Because Anne is seriously taking up some room. I got the skirt pieces cut last night and sewn together quickly. I pleated it just to see how it was looking. I don't feel like my back ...

An End to the Anne Fabric Debacle

This is part 2 to this post, way back OVER a month ago... So I thought my fabric searches were over and done with. I had that last 4 yards coming in from Murfreesboro and that would give me 14 yards all together, which should be enough. Well time goes by and they never call to say my fabric is in. Chase calls up there for me and they tell him the 4 yards ...

Round-up

A lot of thoughts, discussions, and purchases this weekend. Here's a breakdown of everything I have going on. 1. Meg - still sewing pleats. Good grief. I took my dress, my pins, needle & thread, scissors and my ironing board and dressform to my grandma's this weekend. I got out of my car and warned her, "You're going to think I'm crazy when you see all that I've brought," and she ...

Adventures in Fabric

First off, many thanks to my husband who has been dealing with Joann Fabrics for me trying to hunt down more of this fabric. Secondly, a lot of this post is just me venting frustration. First off, why would you ever manufacture a fabric only 45" wide. This needs to stop. The shortest should be 60". So, to recap, I found a decently good fabric for my Anne costume at Joann in ...
