Ash’s family and my family went to Disney World together in 2001. While in Epcot, Ash and I found these Chinese suits that were super cute and looked super “Ranma.” And since we were both obsessed with Ranma 1/2 at the time, we both bought a suit. We planned to wear them together at the next convention as boy-type and girl-type Ranma.

I had a perfect hat and little basic velvet slippers, so I loaned those to Ash to wear with her suit to Animazement 2002. Since there was only one hat and pair of shoes between us, and I had a ton of other costumes to wear to Animazement that year, I let her be Ranma that time around and we’d do the matching costumes later.

Well go figure, I ended up never wearing mine to a con… but I did win a bright red wig as a prize in the MTAC costume contest, so when I got home I threw on my whole costume with the red wig and took exactly one photo. That is the only photo of have of my Ranma costume.

I ended up selling it not long after that. So we never got to do our matching Ranma costumes. This is why I strike when the iron is hot now and don’t delay doing costume ideas when they come up, because life moves on and then I never get to it.

I think Ash may actually still have her suit. In her mom’s attic maybe. I’ll have to ask her one of these days.
