For our second Dragon Con in 2003, Ash and I convinced my cousin Cath to come with us. We wanted to come up with a trio costume the three of us could do together, and we decided to do the Powerpuff Girls – the costumes would be easy enough to put together, and we could walk in the parade together.

We made the 3 dresses out of stretch knit, with black stretch knit waist bands. No closures, they just slip on over the head. We each bought black tights and each used black shoes we already had.

My Blossom wig was bought on ebay, and I added the red bow – it has a wire frame with red fabric stretched over it, to keep the shape held up right. Bubbles’ wig was also bought on ebay, and we just put it into pigtails. I wish we’d gotten a wig for Buttercup but her hair was close enough.

We had fun walking in the parade and skipping and waving. And then we never wore them again.

For a white backdrop shoot in 2023 I dug out 4 old costumes I really needed more photos of and Blossom was one of them.
The wig was an absolute nightmare, a party-city quality neon wig that I was scared to brush, because everytime I touched a brush to it it felt like I was losing 10% of the hair out of the wig LOL I also had to get new shoes as the old ones had broken and been tossed years ago. But so glad to have photos of it… even if it took 20 years.
