Princess Leia – Star Wars (Kenner Action Figure)

Made for: Dragoncon 2007

Background: I made this costume for Dragoncon 2007, but never wore it! I put it away after the con and pretty much forgot about it, moving on to other projects.

Jumpsuit:

I made the basic jumpsuit out of two layers of material similar to the Jet-Set Poly used for my regular Leia costume. I didn’t use a pattern – used my Leia costume as a reference for the top section, then made a pair of wide legged pants and joined them together at the waist. Then I made cuffs and a collar and attached them. I never finished the back edge of the collar, though.

Vinyl Cape:

The cape I made out of white vinyl. I cut it out in basically the same shape as the Kenner cape. I added a piece of wire to the outside hem, which forces it to stay in the right shape and not just flop all over the place.

Accessories:

I originally made a belt that went with this, but it has disappeared in between moves – so in the new photos below I wore a silver belt I already had.

History:

I finally pulled it out, only 6 years later, to sell it. I took a few minutes in a recent photoshoot to snap some pics of it before it goes to a better home.
