Marion Ravenwood – Indiana Jones/Raiders of the Lost Ark

Made for: Dragoncon 2007

Background: One of our local theaters does a summer movie series, and in 07 they played Raiders of the Lost Ark this year, and afterwards I got the thought in mind to put together a Marion costume for Dragoncon.

Patterns Used:
Simplicity 5799

Blouse:

The shirt I made out of of some leftover white cotton I found in one of my bins – I used the same pattern I had used for the Anna Valerious blouse, I think. I just gathered the sleeves, and cut the neckline higher. Added a cord through both the sleeve and neckline hems so they can drawstring close. The designs I put together in photoshop, printed, and heat-transferred on. I added the red tassels to the neck cord.

I’ve made the patterns I created for this costume available as a downloadable PDF on my etsy store if you are looking to recreate your own Marion costume on the cheap. They are available here!

Pants:

The pants I bought on ebay – I just gathered the hem at the ankle.

Accessories:

I bought the shoes on ebay as well. I ended up using my Powerpuff Girl waistband – not exactly accurate, but it worked for a quickie little costume.

History:

This was a lot of fun to wear, I actually wish I’d worn it longer at Dragoncon, but I wasted it standing in the pre-reg line and by the time I was done, the shoes were killing me and I had to change!

Once we got this shot on the white backdrop a few years later, I sold it to a new home. Farewell!
