Supergirl – DC Comics (70s Version)
Made for: Dragoncon 2013
Background: This was another “maybe” costume I put off til closer to Dragoncon to see if I had the time/funds to make it. I was able to buy the fabric with coupons and finished the bulk of it in an afternoon!
Journal Entries: Read more at my 70s Supergirl tag
Patterns Used:
KwikSew 3502, KwikSew 3239
Leotard:
The leotard I made using a leotard pattern, just edited for the neckline (although I cut it too long and had to do a quick fix! Which is why there’s that little dart there right underneath it LOL). I bought the Superman symbol patch online and attached it.
Shorts:
For the shorts, I used a pattern for boy-short swimsuit bottoms.
Cape:
The cape I also made out of red spandex – just a gathered square with a neckband.
Accessories:
My belt I made using my old Batgirl belt (since I was remaking it for Dragoncon 2013). I still had some of the fabric from it left-over, and used that to cover the new belt boxes. The boots were my Scarlet Witch boots.
History: This was a simple and easy costume; not sure when I’ll ever wear it again but it was great easy late night Dragoncon costume.
