Emma Frost (The White Queen) – X-Men (Hellfire Club Version & Original Dress Version)
Made for: Dragoncon 2011/Dragoncon 2012
Background: I really, really, really wanted to make her furry cape. I didn’t really want to do her pants outfit, or the corset outfit. I decided to do my own take and make a mini dress instead. The next year, in 2012, I did the more classic corset/Hellfire Club variation.

Patterns used:
KwikSew 2004 and Simplicity 9887 (probably).
Dress:
I used a leotard pattern for the mini-dress, just added the miniskirt to the outside and changed the neckline. I used some thick white spandex, but even two layers was a little see-through, so I ended up lining it with skintone spandex as well.
Cape:
The cape was made of a matte stretch satin, using a pattern for the basic shape. For the furry collar part, I bought some white faux fur, cut two pieces, and sewed them together, leaving it open where the neck would be, then stuffed the inside with some batting and sewed it together, and hand-sewed it to the cape. I was originally going to put a chain closure on it, but didn’t like how it looked, so instead attached it to the dress with a hook and eye.
Accessories:
The boots I made just like my Ms Marvel boots and attached them to tights, using DJSpider’s tutorial over at the SCF. The gloves I bought, the wig I had. I made the collar piece out of white spandex, and the belt out of silver belting material, and a painted wooden medallion.
Corset Version:
For Dragoncon 2012, I wore this costume again, but wore the more classic corset version – I had a nice white corset I’d never used, so I bought a pair of white swimsuit bottoms, altered them, and wore all the same accessories.
History: I’ve worn the minidress version once, and the corset version once. I updated the corset version last year for Dragoncon and took it with me, but never wore it. I’ll have to do a new photoshoot with the corset version soon.
