Patterns Used:
No clue.
Dress:
I only had the pictures in that first volume to go by – I did change the top a bit; I made it a corset, to help support the weight of the rest of the dress – spiral steel boning with a lace-up back. I made the skirt using my manga Belldandy skirt as a pattern. The sleeves have shoulder pads built into the upper section to create the stand-up look at the shoulder. All the white designs were done with white matte satin on the bottom, and all the ones on the sleeves and tops are white suede. I didn’t finish the designs on the back or around the edge of the skirt, due to time constraints.
Accessories:
The boots and cigarette holder I bought. The necklace I made – the moon is cut out of styrene and painted, and the other sections were various beads I wired together.
Wig:
The wig I bought, and added the piece to the top (made of foam, covered in hair and wired into the wig) – I opted to keep the hair shorter in the back than hers is – after Hild I didn’t feel like having a heavy wig for a while! The hair sticks I bought, painted, and added the flags to. The tassels I dyed and sewed on, and the moon symbols I heat transferred on.
History:
This costume was a pain to make – you’ll notice I have NO real in-progress pictures because the whole process was one of the worst construction experiences I’ve ever had. I kept running into problem after problem and, up to a few days before Akon, I wasn’t sure whether I was going to wear this at Akon or throw it in the trash. In the end it did make it the con, and once I put it on I was pretty happy with it. It’s not exactly accurate, but I like it š
Since debuting at A-Kon 2005, I’ve only worn it one other time – at Con Nooga 2008. I reallly need to get it out and clean it up for a white backdrop shoot, but these suede thigh high boots are the same ones I used for Arica in 2010, which broke at Dragoncon that year. So I’m bootless for this costume at the moment, which is probably why it hasn’t gotten shot yet.

Please note that none of these costumes are for sale! This is my personal portfolio.
