Patterns Used:
Multiple, but I can’t remember which.

Shirt:

For the shirt, I used a pattern that was pretty close – it included the ruffles and everything. I used a basic white cotton for the body of the shirt and the ruffles. I edited it for a larger collar, and instead of using the sleeves from the pattern I just made basic sleeves out of blue stretch knit and added those, and added the big white cotton cuffs to the end.

Coat:

For the coat, I used black stretch pleather, and I used two different patterns – one for the upper part and one for the lower part. It zips up in the front, all the buttons are just for looks. I used part of a petticoat hoop in the hem to get the shape. The only part I was unhappy with on the coat was the shoulders, just because they had a tendency to slip down my arm.

Armor/Eyepatch:

The armour piece at the waist I made of heavyweight vinyl, batting and silver stretch fabric – made the basic shape in the vinyl, glued the batting on, and then glued the silver fabric over everything. It ties in the back, underneath the coat. The eyepatch is vinyl covered in the same silver fabric.

Hat:

The hat is pretty bad. LOL. I based it off a baseball cape and added foam extensions, and covered it all in black vinyl. It looked ok at the first con, but then after being squished in my suitcase too many times it started to look horrible!

Accessories:

The wig, pants and boots I already had. The pants I’d bought for a costume that never happened, so I was glad to be able to use them.

History:

Sadly this costume is toast. The black vinyl has shredded and there’s not much left. I DO still have it… it’s squished into a large ziploc bag in the bottom of a bin. I’m scared to open it LOL.
