Misato – Evangelion

Made for: Animazement 2002

Background: My favourite Evangelion character!

Journal Entries: Read more at my Misato tag

Patterns Used: Butterick 6834, McCalls 2962

Jacket: I was, for some reason, dead-set on having a stretch vinyl for the jacket, skirt and hat – I had never worked with it and didn’t realize what a pain it would be. I used a heavily altered structured jacket pattern for the jacket, lined it in navy blue, and all the designs on it I made out yellow and black vinyl with orange cotton and appliqued them onto the jacket.

Shirt/Skirt/Hat: The black shirt I made out of a black knit, without a pattern. The skirt was made using a miniskirt pattern.

Accessories: The necklace I bought on ebay. I also bought the wig on ebay – I was originally going to go with black, but I found this dark purple wig and thought it would be neat. The belt I made of black vinyl (velcros closed) and glued two mirrors to the front to create the “buckle”. The shoes I found at the goodwill store. The hat was made out of the vinyl and was a pain and hard to keep on my head, but it worked.

History: I wore this a handful of times – unfortunately the pleather has given up the ghost and it is peeling apart. I’d love to remake it one day out of something not so shiny!
