Lina Inverse- Slayers (OAV Outfit)
Made for: Con
Background: I was never a fan of her regular series outfit, but really liked her OAV outfit, so that’s the one I wanted to make 🙂
Journal Entries: Read more at my Lina Inverse tag
Patterns Used: None
Shirt/Cape: The shirt I made without a pattern – the shirt out of a blue stretch knit, with ribbons for the faux lacing on the front, and an off-white cotton for the upper “wrapped” section. I also didn’t use a pattern for the cape – I made it out of black material, with purple lining.
Jewelry: The necklace and brooch I made of painted beads and a wooden disc with friendly plastic in the middle for the “jewel.” I also made the bracelets out of various wooden pieces and greeblies.
Armor: The armor was my first try at paper mache. We used a bouncy ball as a model, and used fun foam to make the longer parts, with plastic tubing for the ribs. Then covered in paper mache, sanded and painted, with the “jewels” glued on. It sits on a harness that goes around my shoulders. It’s light weight, but it’s hard to put on (though once it’s on it stays on pretty well.)
Other Accessories: The pants I bought, the belts and boots I had. The wig I bought on ebay, and I made the headband out of leftover Urd material. The gloves I bought, dyed and glued the fur (leftover from Lulu) on to the top.
History: It’s a hard costume to get into, and I can’t put it on by myself. But I love it and it’s comfortable once I get into it! I haven’t worn it since 2004, but I still have most everything; another one to add to the list of needed-photoshoots. (Unfortunately as of 2020 the red vinyl pants have completely fallen apart and had to be thrown away. So whenever I get around to shooting this, a new pair of pants will have to be in order…)
