It's been a few days since I posted! I've been busy. First off, I'm moving all of my photos from flickr to smugmug. Not deleting my flickr account just yet, since that would break ALL of the pictures on my blog ... but I'm getting everything moved over and set up so I can then start working on updating everything on the website (ugh). Friday night I transferred the design to the cape, got the stitching done, and started beading. Saturday I beaded a whole lot more. Sunday I just kept beading. I got the interior pieces done -- I ALMOST got the outside band done. I would have finished it last night! But got my work cut off by a half hour. Tonight I'll finish that little bit up, do the horizontal line ...
Yet another warning that it doesn't fit my dressform. Like, at all. I need to adjust the settings on it! I got the belt made on my lunch hour yesterday, and got the beads sewn on last night. It's wearable! Ignore the ironing board and call-of-duty-playing husband! It looks a little too long in the photo but it's just the angle - the bottom hem hits me right below the knee. I had a frustrating time installing the lining but I got it in and finished and top stitched. After this picture I pressed the lower hem. Didn't do the upper hem yet because I decided the straps ...

Well the front is. I finished it last night! I finished the upper bar - which took a little longer than I expected - and got the diamond shape beads attached. (I ended up having to buy crystal beads for those pieces because I couldn't find anything in gold/brass, and Chase painted them for me. They're a little longer and sharper than I wanted, but they are close enough.) ...
I REALLY buckled down and dug into the Donna dress over the weekend. Thursday night I got the last of the beading and embroidery on the "middle" part finished (the lower skirt half above the big triangles). Friday I tackled the big triangles. I broke out the "light table" again (using a light underneath our glass coffee table) and with some tracing paper made an exact pattern of the triangles. ...
I'm plowing through this. I'd say I'd be done with that main section tonight but Chase wants to go see a movie!! So tomorrow, I guess. I'm going to try an experiment with some leftover gold material and see if I can just get away with sewing it behind this black material - maybe at certain angles and with a flash it would be a little see-through? I'm hoping that ...
Went home early with my migraine yesterday and laid down for a bit; then woke up and did some beading. Pinned it on the dressform for a better pic but I didn't pin it as well as I did last time, so it's not a very good pic. (I need to fix the size settings on the new dressform, too.)
