#0037 – The Princess’ Tree

Based on McCall’s 5332 from 1925

Originally, I was not going to include the childhood Leia costumes from Obi-Wan Kenobi in this project, but then I got towards the end of the Leia portion of the project and it just felt like I was skipping something that should be included. I thought it might be fun to delve into historical children’s clothing patterns because I don’t know much about them.

Within the Leia portion of the project I did hop around a bit, but I tried to keep her earlier costumes in the 30s/40s and her sequel era costumes towards the 60s/70s, but that didn’t always work so I would occasionally jump around. I tried to aim for the 20s/30s for the childhood patterns, but that proved pretty much immpossible, so I did have to jump around a bit more here. (And after moving away from Leia, I gave up on trying to keep them “sequential” at all.)

This particular pattern was actually for a boy’s suit, but I felt like it worked best for this look of Leia’s. It suited her climbing a tree. (And really who cares if it’s “boy” or “girl”.. clothes are clothes)
