I changed up my list a little bit… here’s the updated list…
You know I know a lot of people have mixed feelings on when people do “secret” costumes. Some people don’t like it, some do, etc.
I think some people view it as a a “na na I don’t want anyone copying me” thing. Which for me, it’s not. I have different reasons for keeping some costumes secret. For instance, last year when I did Anne Boleyn last year, I kept it secret up until a week or so before Dragoncon. For me, it was about the fact I wasn’t entirely confident in what I was doing with it. It was a different sort of costume than things I’ve done previously, so keeping it to myself until I felt it was good enough was the way to go.
But generally it’s because I want them to be a surprise. Like with Ame-Comi Wonder Woman, and Jane this year – I kept what it was secret but posted progress pics slowly and let people guess. This year I have two (actually 3, but I’ll let you figure that one out.) – one is another one of those “different, not mainstream” costumes that I just want to be a fun surprise at the con. The other is a popular character I’ve always said I’m not interested in but it’s a variation I think people will like.
So those are my reasons. It’s not done to be a jerk, I just think it’s fun š
