Cleaning and Exploring

Weekend was nice and laid back.
New Year’s Eve I was off work. Chase had to go shoot the game. I stayed home, and I think got a little sick? Seemed like I was fighting off a cold or something. I laid on the couch most of the day and drew a little bit.
New Year’s was lame, probably the lamest New Year’s Eve we’ve ever had and that’s saying something. Not that the company was bad, mind you. Cath & Rach went to Nashville for New Year’s Eve, and they invited us to come, but Chase had to shoot the game so we couldn’t go out of town. So @LindenAsh came over and we went and ate at a steakhouse joint, then came back to our house, watched that Phantom Menace review on youtube, and played Wii Sports Resort until midnight.

New Year’s Day was fun. We went out driving in the country – Chase was looking for old barns to photograph and I was just doodling and reading. We didn’t get quite as lost as I would have liked, but we saw something interesting stuff. A turn of the century orphanage out on the middle of nowhere that’s now a retirement home, for one! And not all that far from my old house.
Most of the barns we saw were right next to peoples’ houses, so we couldn’t take pics.
We did find this lovely little abandoned general store, complete with old gas pumps:

After that I suggested we go find the abandoned munitions factory in Millington. My dad knew exactly where it was, so we got directions from him and headed that way. We found it, but since I was wearing new boots I didn’t want to get out and go hiking through the woods. But here’s the smokestacks:

And some interesting old stuff in the woods:

I’d love to get in there and look closer at some point.

After that we headed home, took a nap, and then went to @LindenAsh’s parents’ house for our annual New Year’s Day dinner. It was yummy.
We got home that night to get a phone call from my parents asking to bring towels and stuff over – they’d had a small flood in the kitchen. Oops! Luckily it wasn’t too bad.

Saturday, we ran errands and I finally got to get the little jars I’d been wanting for some of my beads. I got the worst offenders moved out of the plastic drawer thing (and by that, I mean, the ones that would spill everywhere if I so much as moved the drawer thing.) I also cleaned my office and got it in working shape again.

Chase shot the Liberty Bowl almost all day Saturday. Didn’t get home w/dinner til 10. Yuck!

Sunday was church, where Chase’s car got backed into in the parking lot. The guy was nice about it, he felt bad. They exchanged info and it’s going to get fixed. It shouldn’t be too much, it’s just a big dent in the bumper.
We went and had lunch with my parents, then went and saw Avatar. It was fun.
So that was the weekend. Yay šŸ™‚
