I kinda thought I’d end up not wearing Seven of Nine at dragoncon, out of all the costumes I brought - but I ended up wearing her for a longtime Sunday evening. The new facial appliances worked so much better than the ones from last year!

Ok now that it’s post-dragoncon, I’m thinking making about future projects, what Leia costume should I do next? I’m still missing a couple of sequel era outfits, I have the stuff to remake Endor, and there’s some comic & book stuff I’d like to do too. What do yall think?

Until I get some more pics of us in our Shin Hati and Baylan Skoll costumes from dragoncon, here’s a closer look at some of the pieces on our dressforms.

I really wanted to do some more in-depth construction content on these, but alas the month leading up to dragoncon was chaos. I’m amazed we got these finished in time 😹 got a few more things to do - I want to do some more weathering, some snaps on Baylan gaiters, little things like that - but overall really happy with them.

Some shoutouts I have to give on these costumes:

I was really happy with how well the @bernetteusa b37 handled all of these layers of leather and faux suede. Baylan’s vest especially ended up with some very thick areas of multiple layers of leather. The main reason I chose the b37 was that I wanted something that could tackle the crazy things I sometimes I have to put through a sewing machine, but still accessible and easy to learn for a new or novice costumer. Over the last few months of dragoncon construction it’s really hit the bullseye on that goal, and I’ve been very very happy with it. For this project I leaned heavily into the patterns created by @sionnach.studios - it was so nice to have a starting point for these and not having to pattern from the ground up. @chasingphotography handled all of the armor and 3d printed parts, along with out lightsabers, and did a fantastic job. If you’d like to read more about the construction of these, I have the construction breakdown page up at my blog. And will hopefully have more pics of these to post soon - I plan on finishing our cases for MCX next month and wearing them there!

I made this “close enough” Stevie Nicks costume last year when we went to one of of her concerts Halloween weekend, so I thought it’d be fun to bring along to dragoncon for an easy late night costume.

My Taylor Swift Lavender Haze costume at dragoncon - I didn’t get a lot of photos of this, despite the fact I wore it quite a bit. And of course my fav photo makes the slight fold line in the dress look like I don’t know how to use an iron 😹 I swear it’s not that noticeable in other photos! Either way it’s getting WAY ironed before we do the white backdrop shoot.

My rhinestoned boots held up well!! I did a spot check as I was putting them away yesterday and it doesn’t look like I lost any stones. (Even after getting my foot run over by a guy dragging a huge rolling backpack through the Marriott AL crowd!)

There were always 3 Mara Jade costumes I wanted to do, and at long last I’ve completed my personal trifecta! Here’s my black suit Mara at dragoncon 2005, my dancer disguise at dragoncon 2010 and my green dress/tunic at dragoncon 2024. Only took 19 years to get them all done 😹

I was pretty happy with how T’Lyn turned out! I do want to do a few tweaks now that I’ve worn her - mainly I think I need to shorten and take in the collar of the top a bit. But she was a great fun comfy costume to wear at night at dragoncon.
