that’s me today. everything is annoying.
I got my replacement Dragoncon badge – found someone selling theirs on ebay. Now I have all 20. After this year I’m going to look at getting them all framed with my carpet piece.
You ever make something and think “this is trash” and then 20 minutes later you’re like “this is amazing” and then 20 minutes later back to trash?
That’s me with this thing. I can’t decide how I feel about it. That’s why I haven’t posted it on social media very much.
From a distance it’s good. I got stuck at this point because I decided my small turquoise beads were too big, so I had to go buy different ones on friday.
Thursday mom and I went to see My Fair Lady!
I have to tell yall what happened to me right before though. So after I got off work I got my hair curled, makeup on, and went ahead and got dressed – just jeans. I then went and did some work in my sewing room, until Chase got home and we went to meet my parents. I had those jeans on for a good 2-3 hours before dinner. We stopped for gas and then to the restaurant. As soon as I sat down at the booth I felt something ON MY LEG. Like right inside the bottom of my jeans near my ankle. I squished whatever it was my pinching it from the outside, and held it there like that til I could get a napkin in there to get it out. When I did I kinda flung it across Chase and out of the booth. Chase identified it as a squashed cricket. UGHHHH Like I said I had them on for A WHILE before we left so I don’t think it was in there before, and we had literally just walked in and sat down so I don’t think it came from the restaurant. We are guessing maybe it was in my car. But anyway UGGGGGH I felt like I had bugs crawling on me ALL NIGHT.
Anyway My Fair Lady was cute. Was a tad disappointed at our seats, I know Lucky Seats seats are just whatever they haven’t sold but the last few ones we’ve had were all like within 2-4 rows from the front. We were very nearly at the back of the orchestra section. But we didn’t have anyone in front of or next to us on the left so that was nice. The costumes and sets were beautiful. We were both dragging by the end of the second act and scooted out of there as soon as it ended to be first in line to get the car from the valet.
Like weekend before last, this last weekend was “accomplish a lot on Saturday, be a slug on Sunday”
I got Chase’s Luke leather jacket cut and assembled on Saturday! YAY. So now all of his sewing is done except for the wraps for his boots and closures on things. He’s still got weathering to do, and I want to paint the inside of the leather jacket pieces where it hangs open in the front – it’s too red.
The Padme embroidery piece is mostly done, except for the trim on the edge.
I started to hand-sew it on last night but that wasn’t working out great so gonna try it on the machine today.
Yesterday I spent ALL DAY working ONE SLEEVE for Jessica.
First I did kind of a test piece out of scrap fabric. Thought this looked good. Cut all the strips of my trim, got them all hand-sewn together at the joins, picked it up… and all those diamond shapes just… flopped. It looked awful. 2 hours wasted. So I took it apart and tried again with smaller diamonds. Still wasn’t working.
Finally I ended up getting out some tear-away stabilizer and drawing guidelines on – then sewing the trim to that. That seemed to have been the ticket.
Then I spent an hour and a half trying to remove the dumb stabilizer – and as you can see I’m still not done. This is why I hate removable stabilizer and generally don’t use it, it’s always a mess to remove.

Geez that wasn’t a lot I got to mark off from last week’s list. But doing that Luke jacket was a big one.
But the Padme embroidery will be done TODAY and I’m hoping the second jessica sleeve too – and then I can finish the top section and start beading all that. This week I’m going to start working on the headgear too.
