So here we are again, another Monday of another week exactly the same as last week which was same as the week before.
Well, one thing that was different this week – I pissed Luna off on friday and she was mad at me almost all weekend.
Tuesday last week she peed on the doormat by the backdoor. Very weird and not like her. We were all in the kitchen and I saw her walking away from it. I yelled “Oh no!” and ran over to grab it and throw it in the washer. As soon as I came back from the laundry room I looked at her (she was still sitting in the kitchen) and said, “why did you do that?” and she HISSED at me. We were like wtf. Gave her some catnip and she calmed down. We have several neighborhood cats who roam around freely so we thought maybe one had marked near that backdoor and the smell had freaked her out/caused her to feel the need to pee there.
Then Friday, we got home from errands. We still have the old couch sitting in the entryway – still trying to find someone to buy it/take it. She jumped up on it as I walked by and I petted her, went into the bathroom – and when I came out, I immediately saw a gigantic fresh pee spot on the couch. I yelled something like “what the fuck!”, grabbed the cushion to get the cover off before it soaked in (thankfully did) and yelled for Chase to come help. I was MAD. I turned around and there’s Luna, by the couch, hissing and vocalizing like a wildcat. She was totally freaked out.
We left her alone while we cleaned everything up, and ate dinner. She seemed normal after dinner, got up in Chase’s lap, came over to me, I brushed her head with a toothbrush (tiktok trend LOL) and everything seemed to have passed.
But then an hour later when I got up, she freaked out again, puffed up, hissing, vocalizing and didn’t want anywhere near me. It stayed like that the rest of the night, I couldn’t leave the bedroom without her freaking. We left her alone and the next morning things were mostly back to normal, she greeted me at the door normally, then hid under the Christmas tree and vocalized a few times… I played with her, gave her some treats and she was good the rest of the day. She napped with me, I picked her up, carried her around, all was good. Sunday, still good until Sunday night. She was on the arm of the couch and I walked by and “airplane petted” her like I often do but before my hand could get to her she hissed, backed up and freaked out again. We got down on the floor and played and she got over it quickly.
I’ve been concerned she’s sick, because she’s never acted like this before. Even last year, when she ate that piece of chiffon and I CHASED her around the house screaming – obviously she didn’t like that, hissed at me and hid, but she didn’t do this vocalizing and holding a grudge for days. But she’s not really showing any other signs of being in pain… she’s not hiding (outside of when she’s mad at me), she’s been chill and normal otherwise.
We think it’s the christmas trees. She’s always had a thing about the christmas tree, and this year there’s 2 instead of 1. Tho it’s not really the trees themselves, but the measures we take to keep her from climbing them. First year we had her, we had that air puffer thing set in front of the tree and she didn’t like that and “inappropriately peed” in revenge. This year we put orange peels under the trees, since it worked so well last year… so we THINK the peeing is related to that. We got rid of the orange peels. And then… we think she just got super freaked out by my yelling.
I hope that’s all it is. We’re keeping an eye on her.
Anyway that’s really the only major thing I had to talk about from the last week.
I HAVE been working on beading my Arwen sleeves again.
I finally finished Twin Peaks but I’ll talk more about that in a bit.
I ended up deciding to scrap the beading I’d done one the one sleeve I was almost finished with. It just looked too chunky. I started anew on the other sleeve with just the bugle beads and sequins. According to the exhibit notes, the bugle beads are also supposed to go around the edge of each leaf and on each vein, but that was messy looking when I tried one so I’m just doing the center of each leaf with the bugle beads and the stems with the sequins. Dropping the regular round beads all together. The sequins are what is taking so long – they are hard to pick up. But I’m close to being halfway finished with this redone sleeve, so I’m hoping I could maybe be done after thanksgiving break? I’ve gotten into a groove the last week so it’s possible.
In other costume news…
Kristie gave me these curtains. There’s a bunch of them. They’re lined and weighted and were pretty heavy to get up to my sewing room LOL
She said they’re silk… but even if they were 100% silk, I figured they’d have some kind of scotchguard/protectant on them that would keep them from being dyeable. Problem I’ve run into before in the past. So yesterday I cut one of the loops in the back and did a test dye with some regular petal pink…
Took it really well. So now… I have… I don’t even know how many panels there are. But it’s a good amount. I’m kinda thinking about making Eliza from Hamilton since I’ve been asked approximately 1500 times on tiktok to make a hamilton dress.
I also spent way too much playing with this “PortraitAI” app last week. Here’s a few favs.
And a Kevin LOL
So yeah I finished Twin Peaks finally. It’s all my brain wants to think about.
I’ve still got to watch the Missing Pieces from Fire Walk with Me. The copy I rented didn’t have it (or I missed it?). It’s also a little irritating that I got this lovely boxset of seasons 1-3 for my birthday but it doesn’t include Fire Walk With Me or the Missing Pieces? So I’m going to just buy a copy so I have everything.
I really kinda want to do a whole blog series on it. Rewatch the whole thing and blog about it. Dunno if I have time. And I started rewatching it yesterday from the beginning without taking screencaps soooo probably not happening. I wanted to watch Unsolved Mysteries (the new season on netflix) but my brain was still screaming about twin peaks so I just switched over to the first episode. Also a complete rewatch would mean slogging through the second half of the second season again and ugh.
Anyway. I’m obsessed.
