I gotta level with you I am not doing well right now. Last night going to bed, having nothing but another week of work to look forward to, and another week after that, and another week after that… just an endless desert of work….
Anyway you’re not here for crying.
House is kind of a mess. I’ve turned the dining room into the “stuff we want to get rid of” room. And I keep adding to it as I’m putting my closet back together. But I don’t have the energy to actually like, list stuff for sale. So it’s all just sitting in there, staring at me everytime I go past.
I’ve almost got my closet back together, just going through all my clothes with a fine tooth comb to get rid of stuff I don’t wear anymore. Like yes I love this Abercrombie sweater from 1997 but it’s also super short like everything was back then and I haven’t worn it in 20 years and I”m not GOING to wear it so time for it to go away. Once the closet is done I want to go through my dresser too, which is all my tshirts. I really need to do start on my tshirt quilt. Quilts. I have so many tshirts I want to make into t-shirt quilts that I’m probably going to end up with 3 or 4 double sided.
Saturday afternoon I went to my parents with a bin to get a load of albums. Dad had cleared a path for me to get to the old album closet. I was hoping to snag all of my Beatles collection, and the Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd stuff I listened to regularly in the late 90s – I figured they’d all be in the front. But they were not. Some of them were, but some of them must be stuck in in places I couldn’t find.
I did bring what I found of my Beatles albums home, along with a few other things. Got home and discovered some of them were empty which means the album is probably stuck in the wrong sleeve somewhere. I’ll eventually find them. It’s going to take several trips to get them all over to the house. I forgot how many albums my parents have.
I can’t remember if I mentioned it or not but Chase and I decided that once a month, we’d go to Black Lodge and each rent a movie. We did that for the first time Friday, and ended up signing up for their monthly membership which gives us 4 rentals a month. So for this first time we got 3 – Chase’s pick was Top Gun, which I’d never seen. My pick was Meet Me in St Louis. And I also got Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me because I’m almost done with season 2 and wanted to watch it next. (I already watched it, I figured it’s not spoiling anything since it’s a prequel).
And now on to sewing – I actually got a decent amount of sewing done this past week. I finished up 2 pairs of Chase’s shorts – one more to go. Though last night he asked me to add belt loops to them so I’ll be going back to do that.
But costume-wise, I got out my Arwen Hope dress to see where I’d left off.
The outer dress is basted together, so I still need to actually sew the seams together. I’ve got one large panel of fabric left to do the neck drape, and I mocked that up Monday night tho I forgot to take a pic of it. I tried to order another yard of this velvet but they were out of stock… it was just back up in case I felt I needed more for the neck drape, so I’ll just have to make what I have work.
I got out my lining fabric and cut the sleeve linings out… I used my Arwen blood red sleeves as a guide, tho these as much less full and long as those. They’re about half as full, and I cut them a bit long so I need to shorten them. But I wanted to double check how much spoonflower fabric I needed to order – I used just under 4 yards for the lining, so I’m ordering 4 yards of the spoonflower fabric. Glad I checked because I almost spent the money on 5. Spoonflower fabric hasn’t shipped yet, I’m hoping it does soon so I can keep working on this while it’s on my mind.
Yesterday after I finished up Chase’s shorts, I decided to start working on a few things off my to-do list that didn’t have much left.
First up, my Black Widow dapper day dress. If you recall back in April (?) I guess, or maybe March? I was having trouble deciding on the placement of the widow symbol on the black dress I made, and was considering making a new dress all together that was a bit more “mod”. I decided to just stop overthinking and sew the dang thing on and finish the hem.
So I did that yesterday. Basted the symbol on and then machine sewed it, and finished the hem by hand. I can mark this off the list now.
Also if I ever need a formal Star Trek TNG dress, now I have one. LOL.
Next I pulled out my disneybound Leia jacket.
The only thing this needed was for me to pop the waistband off and gather one side tighter so there was no “overlap” at the bottom. I hadn’t felt like doing that back… whenever I made this, March? So I made myself do it yesterday. Now it doesn’t overlap at the bottom. (Waistband still overlaps, but not the jacket portion). I originally had a hook and eye closure there, but decided I wanted to do snaps instead. Didn’t have any silver snaps so I ordered some, they’re supposed to arrive tomorrow and then I’ll finish it off.
And finally I decided to go back to my Padme disneybound shrug:
Didn’t get much done here beyond steaming 2 of the panels and trying to remember how I was going to put this together. Viewer’s left is what I’m going to do. I’m going to have to cut the front panel down a bit because I don’t like the way the yellow is going all the way to the bottom over there. It’s happening because it’s no longer gathered as much as it was when it was actually a lake dress sleeve.
So I’ll work on that a bit this week…and maybe also get back to my Dale hat and finishing the back of my Dale top next. I also pulled my old version 1 Crait cloak out, because I’m thinking about chopping it off at the knee to make a disneybound jacket version.
But I’m considering if I want to actually do that or just sell it. Would I actually want to wear that at Disney? At this point I’m going to have more outfits than I can wear in a week trip.
Oh I almost forgot. We have one Shipt person who delivers our groceries pretty regularly. She delivered them last week and in one of the bags was this:
She just randomly got it for us as a gift because she knew we loved Star Wars. It made me happy 🙂
Ok that’s all for this week. Let’s make it through another one.
