This is a back-dated post! In 2016 I went back through my old sketchbooks and “rescued” a lot of my old, lost artwork, and I’m slowly getting them re-added to my archives.
I realize this doesn’t look like much, but I found a lot of these really, really rough marker sketches like this in sketchbooks from this time period, and it took me a bit to work out what they were — they were rough designs for an Utena movie poster, that I was working on as a final project for an illustration class that semester.
Unfortunately, the final piece was lost to time which really sucks because it was a huge 24×36 Utena movie poster that I really liked. I no longer have the digital files, the sketches, or even the physical final piece — all I have are these rough sketches done for the teacher.
