A throwback to my Padme/Queen Amidala art project A throwback to my Padme/Queen Amidala art project from 2017/2018. I so enjoyed doing these costume study art pieces of her movie and clone wars costumes that I decided to dig into all of the unused concept art and include that too. The concept art was really fun to interpret into a full costume, thinking about how I would make it, what fabrics I would use and how I’d embellish it. Some of the concept pieces I referenced were just rough black and white sketches which left me with a lot of creative freedom! This section of my Padme project was definitely my fav — it made me want to delve into interpreting some of the book costumes too, but that’s something I never got around to. Maybe one day I’ll do a part 2 to this project.
One more Star Wars Celebration 3 throwback - my Ma One more Star Wars Celebration 3 throwback - my Mara Jade was my other new costume that weekend and I ended up pretty much living in it because it was the most comfortable easy costume I brought with me. I loved this costume and wore it many more times, but sadly the pleather has finally disintegrated. It lasted for 15 years which wasn’t bad, I had other pleather items go much faster than that. But still my message to any new costumers - JUST SAY NO TO PLEATHER!
Another celebration 3 memory - getting a picture w Another celebration 3 memory - getting a picture with this adorable tiny Princess Leia! The day I wore my new Queen Amidala parade dress, it rained. And the line to get in was outside. We had to huddle under an umbrella for an hour in the pouring cold rain, in costume. I had my cape in a rolling suitcase trying to protect it. It was miserable. By the time we got inside my hair and makeup were mussed but just had to make the best of it at that point. Hey at least it wasn’t snowing right? (It would be the next day 😹)
It’s funny to think it’s been 20 years since t It’s funny to think it’s been 20 years since the one time I got to do a full weekend at Star Wars Celebration. (We did 1 day at the 2017 Orlando celebration) I’ve always wanted to go to another one for a full weekend but it’s never worked out. Too close to another already planned trip, too far away, too expensive right now. I’m still holding out hoping another east coast celebration works out for us one day. Here’s me and dad as Queen Amidala and Qui-Gon at c3. Also crazy to think about how my Amidala parade dress is 20 years old now too.
Construction Rewind: my 18th century inspired vers Construction Rewind: my 18th century inspired version of Belles pink “Something There” dress (or just my pink 18th century dress, depending on what accessories I’m wearing 😹). I’ve done 2 historical inspired costumes of Belle’s from beauty and the beast- I’ve always wanted to do more, and even though I have a new Belle costume in the works, it’s not going to be part of this collection. Anyway, I made this costume back in 2015 but reworked it several times and I feel like I got to the “final” version in 2018. It’s not perfect but I do love it!

Ok I know I just did this banner concept a few mon Ok I know I just did this banner concept a few months ago but I wanted to redo it with ALL of my Star Wars costumes. So here’s tile 1, showing some of my non Leia or Padme costumes.
I had 3 Mara Jade costumes I always wanted to do - I had 3 Mara Jade costumes I always wanted to do - the black jumpsuit, the “Arica” dancer disguise and the green tunic outfit. It only took me 19 years to get to all three 😹 I did the black jumpsuit for Star Wars celebration 3 in 2005, the dancer disguise for dragoncon in 2010, and I finally got around to the green tunic last year for dragoncon 2024. Only took me 19 years to complete the trifecta. That’s why I never say I’ve dropped a costume idea… 😹
Ok April fools is over so here’s where I really Ok April fools is over so here’s where I really stand with my dragoncon 2025 projects/lineup. I’ve got my Deanna Troi fabric cut and last night I made the decision I wanted to dye it all, so I’ll be doing that tonight/tomorrow. And hopefully it’ll be done in time for me to start sewing this weekend. I have everything I need for Scarlet Witch; I still have my bodice patterns from my Wandavision version so I’m going to dig those out soon and get started on this! I’m finally digging in to my Belle ballgown version 3. I’ve got my ideas solidified enough to start and fabric ordered. Yay. Costume number 4 will remain a mystery for now. I have the fabric, but I don’t know yet that I have the time. Besides my new costumes this year I’ve also got stuff for Chase and my parents (!) to work on. Returning will be my Arwen blood red dress (it’s 20 this year so coming back out for its anniversary!), Tatooine Padme cuz why not, T’Lyn with the new wig, and Shin with the updates I did for the shoot.
