Well I’m posting this from weekend, which I generally try not to do, but I haven’t had internet access at home since friday morning. Very frustrating. It’s apparently fixed now, but I was only able to get online once over the weekend, and that was for 5 minutes at my aunt’s house saturday afternoon.
Ok here was my whole weekend – it was very, um interesting!
Friday I went to see my mum’s play. She directed “The Rainmaker” (NOT the john grisham one!) – last weekend was opening weekend, but I was out of town, so everybody went friday night. Chase drove in from Nashville after work that night, and made it just a few minutes after the play started, yay š
Saturday, we got up and went swimming, which was fun! Then we had lunch and I had a hair appointment. (A note about the hair appt: I had had one on wednesday morning. I completely forgot about it. This was bad, because it can sometimes take up to 2 months to get an appt. I lucked out and managed to snag one (probably a cancellation) on sat morning. whew!) Then we met Mel at the bridal store, and we picked out the top for my bridesmaid’s dress. Then we went and got ice cream, then went home and took a nap and eventually got up, went and got dinner, ate it over at my aunt’s house while watching the (non-special edition) Return of the Jedi (yub yub!)
Then around 9 I went and picked up the chick-fil-a platter for my mum, for their cast party that night. drove it out to the theater, dropped it off, watched the play for a few minutes, then went home and went to sleep.
Now came the interesting part.
Around 1, I heard the dogs start barking and then a minute later, dad came to my door and said (really loud) that he needed my help. I got up and went in – my mum and slipped getting out of the car, and fell face first into the edge of the truck. Dad was completely freaked out. Mum was sitting in the bathroom and was dazed – she had a cut on her forehead, a dark place on her nose where we thought we might have broken it, and had cut her lip in two places. Also banged up her knees real good.
She was totally out of it and kept trying to close her eyes, but we kept her awake. It was really scary, I asked her to say her ABCs while I put some ice on her lip and forehead, and she was having some trouble. Then she thought her front teeth were loose, THAT made her start freaking out, so I kept telling her to take a deep breath – I had no idea what else to do! After a few minutes she started to come out of her daze a little bit – I was able to ask her about some of the lines in the play and she was able to say them back to me. We called my aunt Mary, who is a nurse, and she came over as quick as she could and took a look at her, and said it would be best to take her to the ER, just in case.
I went in and woke up Chase and asked if he wanted to go – he did, so we followed dad with mum in his car down to the hospital. If I hadn’t been worried it would have been fun, driving that fast down the deserted Highway. I’d never actually been to an ER before, but everytime somebody tells me about it, they tell horror stories about how crowded it is, and how long they had to wait. We walked in and there was one guy in there, asleep. We got her checked in, and then she went in the back to talk to the nurse for a minute and we waited. A few minutes later she came back to wait for her turn to see a doctor (I guess) and seemed a LOT better, obviously still in pain but she was more herself. She told me and Chase to go ahead and go, there was no point in us waiting around. So we did, and I called everybody to let them know what happened. I still kept getting calls throughout the rest of the night from people wondering what was going on, since dad didn’t have his phone on and mum didn’t take hers, obviously.
I couldn’t sleep when we got back – I cleaned up a little bit and put mum’s flowers she’d gotten after the play night in water and then tried to go sleep, but I kept tossing and turning… not to mention people kept calling my cell. Around 6 dad called and said they were on their way home finally.
They had done a cat scan and everything to make sure she was ok. Luckily she didn’t have a concussion, or anything broken! The cut on her forehead was just superficial, and one of the cuts on her lip needed one stitch. They gave her a prescription and she slept all day sunday – we had to keep checking on her to make sure she was still ok (the nurse said not to let her sleep for more than 3 or 4 hours without checking on her).
Dad’s band was playing at church that morning. Dad didn’t want to leave her, and at first he was going to ask me and Chase to stay behind and watch her. Which I gladly would have done, I did want to see dad’s band (especially since it was father’s day, and chase and I had been planning to go for a long time), and luckily Ash’s mum was able to come over and stay with her, while we drove down to Collierville for church. Dad’s band was great.
Then Chase wanted to go to this restaurant called Red Robin. He noticed in the phone book, so since we were kinda close from the church, I mapquested it and we drove that way. I was completely lost, as I’d never been in that part of town before. I mean, I’d been there, years ago, but never driven down there myself. We got over to where the restaurant was supposed to be… and it was apparently gone. Then I got all freaked out because I didn’t know where I was and didn’t know how to get home… I eventually fumbled around and found a road I kinda knew and found 240, whew.
Then we TRIED to go swimming, but we’d been in the pool for about five minutes and it started storming. We sat on the patio to see if it would pass… it eventually stopped, and the second Chase got in the pool again it started again LOL
So we went home and napped. Both of us were really tired. Then we grabbed a quick dinner at IHOP and Chase went home.
I went to my internet-less home and tried to do some work on padme, ended up playing battlefron with kevin for a good part of the night, and went to bed.
This morning took my car in, to fix the flat I had a couple of weeks ago and check one of my tires that looked low. yay.
Got my computer back today with the new 1gb card…can’t wait to get home and try it out..!
