I’ve probably already written about this, but I don’t care!
When I was a little kid, I had a whole collection of Star Wars toys. I loved them a lot, I had a knock-off Star Wars action figure case to keep them in, but when I wanted to take them somewhere, I would put them in this little brown and yellow basket my great grandmother had made. I don’t remember all of them, I’m fairly certain I had a Darth Vader — but I know for sure I had a TIE Pilot, a Ree-Yee, and a Jawa. I remember those two, because the TIE Pilot kinda scared me, I thought he looked like some kind of Bug/Human mutant (I thought his helmet was his face), and the Jawa I remember, because I always liked to pull his “skirt” up and look at his legs. I know that sounds all kinds of wrong, but his legs weren’t just smooth plastic, I always thought they looked like tree trunks. I really liked my Ree-Yee in particular, though I don’t remember why.
In those days, I always had to take toys with me everywhere, so when it came time for us to go to my dad’s company’s annual picnic, I took my little brown and yellow basket of Star Wars action figures. And, when we left, I forgot it.
Yes, I forgot it. By the time I realised and freaked out and started crying, by the time we got back, they were gone. (The picnic had actually been in a park, so I left them somewhere outside in the trees) I was devastated, and to this day I still miss them terribly.
In that vein, when we were on vacation in Florida once, I lost another toy. This time it was one of my precious My Little Ponies. When I carried Ponies around with me, I would carry them around by their tails. Well, I had just gotten baby Cuddles, with her baby buggie and everything… but apparently in the midst of all the other, longer tails of the “adult” ponies I was carrying, she slipped out, as we were walking across a parking lot to go eat breakfast. When I realised it, again, we went back to look, but she was gone.
I never got another Cuddles, either, since she had come with the buggy, no one would buy it for me again.
On a happier note, at some point I lost Glimmer from She-Ra. I had, once again, just gotten her, and was playing with her at a classmates’ house (it was his birthday – and it was the only time I ever went to his house). I never saw her again after that, I don’t know whether she got left there or what. But, the happy part – I found a mint Glimmer, with all of her accessories (just loose!) in a baggie in a tub of loose action figures at Comic Con 2004. For like, $5. I bought her, so I got Glimmer back š
My mum once gave me a pin shaped like a unicorn. I loved it. We went to Service Merchandise, and I wore it. However, after wearing it for a while and admiring it, I decided I was worried about it falling off, so I took it off and gave it to my mum to put in her purse.
Well, we got home, and it wasn’t there. It was gone. I was soooo sad, because it was something my mum had just randomly bought for me (most of my toys and things I asked – or begged – for). I drew a picture of it and hung it up in my room. š
So, all my lost toys, I still miss you…
