I desperately need some Disney in my life right now. I’m so glad we have this trip coming up.
Disney package paid for – check!
Rental car booked – check!
Dining reservations made – check!
Universal tickets bought – doing that tomorrow!
Getting there:
As I probably mentioned before, we’re driving for the first time this trip. I haven’t driven to Orlando since we went in 1990 – and obviously I wasn’t doing any driving back then. I’m excited about having a good old fashioned road trip! We’ve got Harry Potter book 6 to finish listening to, and we’re getting a hotel halfway there for our night time stop over.
Hotel:
We’re staying at Pop Century this trip, which is admittedly a bit of a downgrade after Bay Lake Tower last year LOL. But it’s really just a place to sleep in between parks, it’s not like we’re going to just hang out there, and since we’re doing Universal this trip as well, we wanted to save some money somewhere. I AM excited to see a new Disney hotel.
Eating:
We’ve got reservations at ‘Ohana (dinner) at the Polynesian, Mama Melrose’s at DHS, The Plaza at MK, Rose & Crown and Teppan Edo in Epcot, and Boma at AKL. All but the two Epcot restaurants are new to me – Teppan Edo is new to Chase. Rose and Crown is our tradition so we can’t skip that 🙂
Sadly no character dining this year – tried to talk Chase into adding one Sunday morning for breakfast but he said no because the characters always make fun of him. LOL.
Universal:
We are doing Universal for one day! I haven’t been to Universal Orlando since our 1990 trip. So I’m excited to see all of the Harry Potter stuff. That’s the only reason we’re going, really! Neither of us are interested in much else there – though I’d like to walk thru and see the Marvel and Simpsons stuff. Packing my Harry Potter uniform yay! (The more casual version I wore for Halloween – with my cousin’s over-sized Gryffindor sweater and the knit skirt. Much more comfortable than my slightly-too-small, itchy sweater and tight skirt.)
Other Stuff:
We are finally going to get to see Fantasmic. DHS is usually a half-day park for us, and we usually go in the morning, so getting back over for Fantasmic has never happened. This year we’ve got a full day at DHS! Probably a bad year to finally do that with all the stuff that is closed… but I’m looking forward to wandering around and taking in some of the details we’ve usually had to rush past.
We are going to do the Marceline to Magic Kingdom tour Saturday morning of our trip! It eats into our Epcot day a little bit but it seemed like too much fun to not do once I read about it. I’m very excited.
Goals:
Chase wants to eat as many different cupcakes this trip as possible, so I put together a list of what cupcakes are where. Should be fun.
I only have a handful of characters I want to meet this trip: The Tremaines, Baymax and Hiro (so glad they’re staying long enough for us to meet them!), Daisy, Marie… there’s really just a handful of regulars that I’ve never met that I’d like to get marked off my list. I’ve got a FP to meet Anna and Elsa again – should hopefully be a shorter experience than our 2.5 hour wait in Epcot last year!
I also want a new pair of mouse ears. I’ve worn the same ones for the last 3 trips.
The Trip Home:
We have a full day of driving on our last day. As I mentioned yesterday I’m hoping we can go thru Atlanta and I can do some fabric shopping :3
