I spent pretty much the entire weekend on the sleeves. I cut off the old pearls, and went back and reinforced each slash with some extra stabilizer. Then I started on the pearls. I watched a LOT of netflix.
Last night, I threw it back on the undersleeve and pinned it on to see how it was looking:
There’s still a few wobbly ones but not as bad as the big ones were – and definitely not anywhere NEAR as heavy. I went ahead and finished off that sleeve:
The only thing I haven’t done on that is sew the outer sleeve to the under sleeve at the cuff, which I’m going to do by hand tonight. Then finish up the second one, which shouldn’t take long.
I’m going to go ahead and make and attach my neck trim tonight instead of getting the skirt repleated and attached – it’ll be easy to get the bodice through my sewing machine to attach it without the skirt on.
But, once I get those things done – and the lower sleeves attached in whatever way I’m going to do them – all that’s left is decoration/jewelry.
To-do list, from the top:
Make jewels for crown
Make new B necklace
Get trim attached to neckline
Bead/jewel neckline
Finish 2nd undersleeve
Attach undersleeves
Pleat outer sleeves/attach ribbon/jewels
Re-pleat and attach skirt
Make waist piece rope thingie
Sew in hook and eye for bustling the skirt
Whoo hoo! I’m hoping to be completely done with everything except the crown by this weekend and then I can focus on Johanna again.
Oh, and mom was cleaning out my old room this weekend – and found a box stashed in with a bunch of dad’s guitar stuff. Looks like a box that got missed when we moved, and what was in it? A bunch of stuff I’ve been looking for FOREVER. My Hermione shoes! My old con photo albums! Some of the older pics I’ve been looking for weren’t in there, but some of them were. I’m very excited to have it again.
