I did not post last week… AGAIN! Well I didn’t have much to talk about so it’s not like anyone was missing anything.
I’ve been having to go to the doctor every dang week, excluding the week to disney, and it’s really starting to fray my nerves. They’re trying to get my blood pressure under control before surgery later this month and checking in and tweaking things weekly. Now this week I have the pre-op appointment and I’m REALLY nervous for that. Why? I can’t even tell you why. They’re not going to be doing anything except talking about the process/what to do before, etc. I mean i hope that’s all they are doing. My parents are taking me because my GP wants me to double down on my anxiety meds to try to keep my BP normal for the pre-op appointment and I doubt I’ll be in good shape for driving. The BP meds are already making me feel really low energy on top of everything.
(For reference, here’s my BP from the last week — Feb 2 at Home – 111/76, Feb 3 at home – 118/76, Feb 4 at home – 111/83, Feb 5 at Doc Office – 140/90, Feb 5 at Home – 117/80, Feb 6 – 100/70, and so on. I cannot stop my body from having the panic reaction. My brain is saying “this is not a big deal” while my body is saying “YES IT IS”)
Anyway I didn’t mean to start this post with a bunch of doctor mumbo jumbo. Let’s move on.
Feels good to be back in the normal routine after holidays/Disney trip prep/Disney trip.
Went over to drop Kevin’s clothes off post-trip and had a portrait session with Winston.
My parents got me this for Christmas, how cute is this? It has everything you need except scissors. I got it out to possibly start on it last week but didn’t, just kinda reviewed it. Maybe a project for while I’m on the couch recovering after surgery.
We had fiber installed last week in our neighborhood. It was wild to look out the window and see a dude chest-deep in our yard from the holes they dug. They put the holes back together pretty nicely too. Also looking forward to kicking Xfinity to the curb once the fiber goes live.
Did I show yall this cute light we got at Disney? I’ve had a lamp on this table since we moved in but… there is no outlet here, so the lamp was useless. This little mickey lamp is battery operated so we can finally have a little light in there at night.
Did I go to Joann for possibly the last time this weekend? (crying emoji)
Being told there was no limit on the pattern sales and that I could “take them all if I wanted” was not a good sign that the employees think they are going to be around much longer.

I guess maybe my last pattern haul? I only do this when they are on sale and if I don’t have a fabric store around me anymore… no more pattern sales.
I got the Six patterns because I’d been wanting those. Couple of vintage things, Yaya’s bunny suit pattern, some Gertie patterns, a nice blazer pattern (is that supposed to be Umbrella Academy inspired? I never watched that.), cute 70s jumpsuit, and a couple more vintage things.
It’s driving me crazy that, within the Joann closing discourse, people keep saying “Go to your local fabric stores!” I DON’T HAVE ONE. We have a couple of quilting stores, and some upholstery stores, and Hobby Lobby. THAT’S IT. And I live in a large city. I have to drive to fucking Atlanta six hours away to fabric shop if it’s not Joann. (I’m sure there’s some non-chain fabric stores between here and Atlanta, but another beef I have with fabric stores is so many of them refuse to come into the 21st century and have a decent online presence.)

So Chase got me new, custom, leather Leia boots for Christmas. YAY! Made to measure. Supposedly. Now it’s a possibility we measured wrong. Foot fits fine, a little big but I can wear 2 pair socks (I usually do when I wear boots), but the shaft is too big. I’ve got like 2 inches of clearance at my calf. I have small calves, so the Leanna “Ellie” boots off amazon that a lot of Leias use, and a lot of people warn have really small calves – fit me really well. My guess is that the maker had set size patterns and just made the whole thing based on foot measurements and didn’t alter the calf down. More frustratingly is that it has a zipper in the back – which is completely unnecessary as I can pull the boots off and on without any resistance – and a giant ugly “tab” of leather with velcro to cover the zipper. It is very visible from the sides.
Going to take them to a cobbler and have them remove the leather tab and see if they can also remove the zipper and just close the back, and maybe take it up a little too at the top of the shaft. If they can do that they’ll be great. I may bring regular Leia back to dragoncon this year. Maybe it’s time for a new belt? FINALLY?
What else is new… nothing I guess. I’ve been cleaning stuff out lately, reorganizing, and this weekend was the dvds and stuff under the tv.

Next is going to be the coat closet which needs a huge cleanout and getting rid of things we don’t use. We need to declutter, donate and sell some of this so hopefully I can start listing stuff sooner rather than later.
OH I did get my first round of swatches for Troi. They are all too blue or dark. Ordered 2 more that should hopefully be more “aqua.” I also need to start getting Belle swatches and start thinking about Wanda, but also I just want to get through this surgery at the end of the month before I dig in to Dragoncon too deep.
I NEARLY FORGOT! Had to come back and edit to add this, totally forgot about the last set of white backdrop photos. I literally uploaded these the day before we left for Disney so it feels like forever ago.

I wanted to reshoot Jedi Leia for 2 reasons – number 1 because I have the Leia saber now so I wanted photos with that, and number 2 because my braid looked so sad and deflated the first time around?

Stuff like that is why I stopped shooting over 4 looks a day and split the white backdrop shoots up over multiple weekends. This was the last set of I think like an 8 costume shooting day and I was OVER IT. And when I’m OVER IT I make dumb mistakes like my braid looking like that and thinking it looked fine.
Anyway, I’ve been working on updating the site too. I’m going through every costume entry and updating it with anything new/adding more pics, etc. Currently in 2007 so nearly done, but just a warning if you see anything funky…
