This Padme costume is about to be my 13th reason. The fabric is just SOOO thin that anytime I have to unpick something it either damages the fabric or I accidentally cut a hole in it. Trying to get everything to line up correctly and looking ok at the neckline has been the majority of my weekend.
I guess let’s back up.

Testing out the hood
I needed to get one long rectangle about 60″ long out of my scraps for a facing for the hood. Amazingly I had exactly that!!
Got the facing and piping sewn on the outside edge, finished it by hand on the inside.
That part was easy.
Saturday I tried it all on and discovered my fitted sleeves were too fitted. I busted one open forcing my hand through. So I spent Saturday afternoon taking the sleeves apart, adding in a panel to widen them since I couldn’t recut them. Put in new piping and reinstalled the facings. Fun.
Sunday was just non-stop fun with this hood. Got it all sewn together at the neckline, which was very fiddly and involved a lot of basting.
Then trying to make sure those points of the outer edge lined up right, with the piping looking ok, and not lumpy, was just… a pain. The left side (which is thrown over the shoulder here) was just constantly looking bad. I redid it so many times. And of course that’s the side that crosses over the front. Decided to spend yesterday afternoon/night getting the side that goes under sewn into place and I’ll deal with the other side when I get to it.
Luna got a new hand-me-down from her cousin Winston. I think she likes it.
Swung by our local costume rental place because it was its last day. Thankfully sounds like somebody is buying it and it’ll be reopened elsewhere, but had to go by for old time’s sake. I think last time I was here was sometime in the early/mid 2000s. Picked up some makeup since their retail stuff was 50% off.
Friday I got to hang out with Walker again. She slept most of the day.
She is growing up too fast!!
Last night we got Taco Bell for dinner and I have had the same Taco Bell order since I was like, 5. Two hard shell tacos, no lettuce, and pintos and cheese. Chase got home with it and… they had left the cheese off my tacos and added extra lettuce. AND they left the cheese out of my pintos and cheese?! WTF! Chase complained but I had to add my own cheese which just isn’t the same. So disappointing.
In other news, finally finished Fallout. Really enjoyed it! Now catching up on Doctor Who.
