Hey guess what another week with me having nothing new to report.
Last week I learned that Kevin Lillard (A Fan’s View) had passed away. Very sad to hear. He was so instrumental in the early cosplay community, such a great guy. So many of my old costume photos are from him.
And then last night… LAST NIGHT! The Bob Iger announcement! I saw somebody mention it and was like haha, what a joke. Then went to twitter and there’s Variety reporting it. So glad twitter isn’t dead yet because last night and this morning have been GOLD. The memes were piping hot. So much fun. Here’s hoping Iger brings good things.
So let’s talk sewing. I didn’t get much done this past week except constant tinkering with trying to install the elastic in the dress.
I finally just put the elastic into the lining, then tacked the chiffon outer layer in place in the front. It took me all week to do this, because I didn’t feel like doing it. But it’s done at last.
Here she is with the bodice piece on.
So I was excited that was done and I could move onto working on the sleeves this weekend and finally get some forward motion. But I didn’t. I did get the chiffon portions for the sleeves cut, pinned together. But that’s it.
So why didn’t I get much more done than that?
Well, Saturday ended up being a bigger bust than expected. We had planned to go over to my aunt’s that afternoon to help clean out the shed – just deal with our stuff we had back there, left from when we’ve lived there now twice in between our houses. We thought it’d be an hour at most because we didn’t have much out there – some yard stuff, a bike. A bunch of trash from when Chase was using it as his workshop when we lived there in 2009.
Well it took a lot longer than that. We got there at 1 and weren’t done til 4:30-ish? IT didn’t help that the movers Kristie had hired didn’t show up til 3:30 (they were supposed to be there at 2). But we had a lot more stuff in the shed than we thought. Chase ended up having a lot of bags and bins of stuff from before we’d even met. Went through them and threw out the trash and kept the photos/keepsakes. The movers loaded up the heavy stuff and brought it to our house.
After that we were so cold and tired we decided to just go to Cracker Barrel with Na and Kristie. Got there and was told 20 minute wait. It ended up being an HOUR wait. Geez. So by the time we got home I did not feel like sewing. Came home and watched star trek on the couch with Luna.
Out of all that, I did get a dining room table out of it. It’s my great-grandmother’s dining room table. It’s… not exactly what I would want but it’s better than the plastic folding table we’ve had in there. We need to find the leaf because right now it’s too small to fit in there and look ok.
Anyway SUnday, got up and once again did not feel like doing anything. We ran some errands and then when we got home I decided it was Christmas-decorating-time.
I got the house about halfway decorated. Both trees up but no ornaments, or lights on the non-lit tree. Nativity scene and ceramic tree up, lights on the upstairs banister. Just need to put the lights on the other tree, ornaments, and decorate the stairway. Few more lights in places too.
Only a 2 day work week this week – so I’ll get back to decorating and sewing this weekend. Nice 5 day holiday!
Also planning to do a white backdrop shoot, including:
Dapper Day Leia
Utena
Jessica
Packin Padme
And maaaaaaybe one old one, kinda thinking comic Starfire if I can cobble it back together. So hopefully next week I actually have some content to share.
