chrissy wake up

Sorry about last week’s post. I think I got distracted before setting up a photo header and forgot to go back to it… I remember at one point going thru and closing tabs and seeing my wordpress edit area was still up and thinking that’s weird… but surely I already published it. Thankfully it was saved in drafts so I was able to go in on my phone saturday, add a header and hit publish.

Anyway, I really don’t have much to post about this week. I spent all last week working on Padme’s vest.

Got all the pieces cut out, flat-lined in the bottom weight fabric and sewn together. It looks pretty good here. but once I started trying it on with the underbodice properly laced up (ie, I had to go get Chase to lace it up) with the skirt and everything it became a constant back and forth of me putting it on, pinning some area that was too big, taking it and everything else off, making the adjustments, putting everything else on again including having to have chase lace me up again, making adjustments, rinse and repeat. It took FOREVER.

Took some video while I had it all on Sunday morning.

It’s looking pretty good, just everything was so tedious.

I did also get the skirt mostly finished Saturday – part way thru getting the vest fitted I realized I really need to have the top edge of the skirt finished to account for added bulk at the waist and hips. So I did that – redid the pleats again to make it smaller, got the zipper put in, and made a waistband and got it attached. All that’s left is a closure on the waistband.

It’s getting harder to take pics of the vest on the form – the fabric of this dressform + the velvet makes it tough to get on there. May have to switch to putting it on the smaller form that has a less fuzzy fabric on it.

Anyway I got the vest hemmed, one sleeve opening finished, will do the other tonight, and get the collar on. Putting the collar on means a bunch more try-ons tonight ugh but at least without the skirt. Also gotta start getting closures marked but that’s going to be another tedious process so I may put that off.

I’m soooo close to being able to start on the beaded panel. I picked up embroidery floss last week. Tonight when I have it on again I’m going to figure out the sizing once and for all so I can start on it this week. It’ll be a nice thing to work on while I’m on calls.

Chase printed my tiara pieces and a test arm band on the resin printer:

I haven’t tried the armband on yet, I’ll do that tonight when I have everything on again.

Tiara pieces look good.

The only other thing of note I have from last week is that we went to see Thor Thursday night.

When we bought tickets the 7pm showing for the imax was already pretty full… so we got tickets for the 10pm showing. Like that’s my bedtime on a work night. But it ended up being ok. Well mostly, I was basically falling asleep at my desk by 1pm the next day but I managed to stay awake til I was off work LOL.

*MILD THOR SPOILERS BELOW*

I liked Thor – it was fun, loved seeing Jane back. I did feel like the story was rushed and it needed like an extra 20 minutes to just slow down and breath a little bit. I feel a little cheated we didn’t get to see Jane become the Mighty Thor for the first time and it felt like a part of the story was missing. I’d love to do a Mighty Thor costume one day.

The part with the kids fighting back at the end was refreshing after sitting thru the younglings scenes in Kenobi/lab massacre in Stranger Things.

The 2 post credits scenes… the first one I looked at Chase and said “was that who I think it was?”… and the amount of people in our theater who left before the last post credit scene really missed out. I felt like the last post credit scene left the movie storyline feeling tied up and satisfying.

*SPOILERS END*

My “rushed” feeling on Thor is also kinda been my feeling about Ms Marvel. I LOVED the first episode. Every episode after that has felt rushed and all over the place. I’m still enjoying it and hoping the last episode ties everything up well.

Luna lately has a new sleeping spot. She tends to rotate her spots – she’ll spend a few weeks sleeping in her cat tree, then a few weeks on the couch, then a few weeks on the back of the couch, etc. But it’s always rotated between pretty much the same spots… until last weekend when she was in our bedroom all weekend and she discovered a new spot.

I have an under-the-bed storage bin – one of those fabric ones from ikea – and I keep swimsuits, tights, that kinda stuff I don’t need everyday in there. I had left it unzipped when I got a swimsuit out last weekend and now – thats’s where she’s been sleeping, in the bin with my clothes LOL. Last couple of nights we went to bed without her in there – she’d bang on the door til we let her in so she could get in her spot. Last night she made sure she got in the room before we shut the door – she went to bed before we did LOL

And yesterday she wanted to be in my sewing room ALL DAY. Thankfully she was good and spent most of the morning sleeping in the sun spots from the skylights.

Then she moved over to my petticoat.

She had to get scolded once for trying to eat the tulle but then went to sleep LOL. I did make sure to put it away after that.

So that’s all this week. Really hoping next week I’ll be showing some embroidery progress…
