I really don’t have much of anything to post. But I’m here anyway.
I did get the site updated last week – new stuff added to the portfolio/costume pages. Also discovered that when I added my Utena page back in february I apparently linked it to the 2007 Utena instead of the new one.
I’ve still been feeling like a slug. No energy, stuffed up, migraine. Today I finally feel more normal, but obviously I spent most nights last week laying on the couch.
Saturday we met my parents for lunch then went to Joann so I could get lining for the Padme skirt.
Ended up with a grey cotton because I wanted to give the silk a little more weight – I pleated the lining around the dressform to get a feel for it.
Then sewed it to the bottom edge of the silk, flipped it, pressed it and pleated that around the dressform again. Pleats re just pinned in – I don’t want to actually finish the top of this skirt until I have at least a pattern for the vest.
So here’s where Padme is at, fabric wise:
Sleeve outer fabric – check. It came in right before we left for Orlando.
Sleeve lining fabric – ordered
Vest fabric – found a place that finally replied to my swatch request, got a swatch on the way. Also ordered some stretch that looks like the right colour but I don’t want to use stretch — but I’m sure I can find a use for it.
I need to look at my sleeve mock-up again because I know I wanted to make some changes.
See this silhouette from the hallway this morning though was pretty fun.
I forgot to get grommets at the fabric store so I could finish up the interior bodice. Will do that next week.
And in Lady Jessica news… I finally bit the bullet and bought the fabric for the dress. I still have to buy the 5 million yards for the scarf/train thing. I need to come up with a name for that part.
My brain is still not switched over to “dragonon” mode yet.
I am glad I cleaned up my sewing room before the trip though. Felt good to come home to a clean sewing room ready to go.
I need to start looking at the packing gown front panel… make a map in photoshop… start planning that out. I could probably get that sized and a base cut and get started on that sooner than later. Though I’d prefer to wait til I at least have that vest mock-up I mentioned above so to be sure. I’d hate to start on that, get halfway through it and realize it’s too big or too small.
For the hair I think i’m going to try to just use my own and make hairpieces. We’ll see.
