So, I finished Yoke #3 and it’s all right. It’s not greeeeeat but it’ll do.
It’s not like I could try again, there’s no fabric left!
After that photo I did take the collar off and inset it into the yoke so there’s no ugly seam sticking out between them. This resulted in a kinda ugly stitch line where it’s sewn on, but it’s a trade-off.
So since that was finally done, I started playing with the cape last night. I ended up removing the lining I’d already sewn on because I really needed to get this thing shaped right first.
I pleated it a few times, pinned it a few times, I knew I was going to have to trim the length at some point but I was sooo scared to do it. I finally worked up the courage to cut 5in off the top edge.
Aaaaaand that’s when I realized I still hadn’t cut the bottom excess off yet. I hope I didn’t cut it too much at the top. There’s still some excess in the top I can play with if the bottom becomes too short once I trim it. But everything is lined up right now so hopefully it’s ok. If I need to drop it down a little I can. Ugh there’s just so much to do and my mental to-do list is a mile long.
I won’t have much time to work tonight or tomorrow night either, got stuff going on. I’m off friday but have a hair appt right in the middle of the day. Hopefully I’ll have some time to work around it. I think I’m going to take some of my mock-up fabric and get it cut down to the current size of the embroidered piece, draw on markers for where the designs are, and get that cut into shape and corrected and use it for a pattern to cut my actual fabric. Because right now I’m scared to put scissors to it again.
In other news…
Monday I came home to a box in the mail!
EEEE! This was my birthday present to myself last year and they’ve finally arrived!
I think I’ve got them shifted around to where they fit good. My only problem is the nose… guards? nose pads? I don’t know what you call those things. The little things that sit on your nose. They’re not comfortable at all and for the 10 minutes I wore them yesterday I kept having to move them up or down my nose once the nose pads started making my nose ache. But that’s all me, not the glasses. Had glasses back when I was a teenager that had those and I could never wear them because they were irritating. So I haven’t ever bought any glasses (regular or sun) since that have them. So it’ll take some getting used to and maybe some more tweaking. These were expensive enough I think maybe paying to get them professionally adjusted would be worth it.
But that’ll have to be After Disney (A.D.).
And one last thing, lately at work I’ve been working on cleaning up our “warehouse room” because there’s stuff in there that hasn’t been touched in 10+ years. While going through a stack of various stuff I came across a stack of these:
Ancient, circa 1993, FedEx envelopes. Totally going to be using them.
Oh and I nearly forgot, I finished Sabe (battle decoy version):
