I haven’t posted since Monday even though my birthday was Tuesday and I usually always post then! I’ll get to the reason why in a sec.
Monday night Chase made my fav cheese fondue!! We watched the new Beatles doc on hulu.
And I finished cleaning my office:
Tuesday was my actual birthday and I went to lunch with parents and came home to find flowers and balloons! Then the girls came over and brought me more Pops:
Kristie sent me a pic of my birthday twin, Daisy!
Flowers and balloons…
And Chase got my Haunted Mansion stretching portraits put up in the hall!
Soooo the evening of my birthday I made a big decision. I’d been going back thru my entries to make sure all my tags were correct, and when I got to the end of what I had here, it felt so… empty. I knew I had more blog posts I’d never ported over — all my blogger stuff from between 2000-2008. I’ve always shied away from porting them over because there’s just so much random, old, embarrassing stuff I know is in there. It’s like putting your diary from when you were 13 online for everybody to see. But I felt it was time. I went hunting for the XML file I knew I had somewhere, and couldn’t find it. Then I went and logged into blogger, and there they all were. I had them ported over in seconds.
Going through them all has taken much longer than seconds, though. The majority of them are private – most of the silly stuff, the ranting, the stories, etc. When I can find the photos or art that correspond to the post, I’ve added them back in and made them public – trying to keep all art, SunDowner or old costume posts public as much as possible. I’ve got to go through them all again once I do the first run and maybe I’ll make a few more public in the second run. But for now – still not done with the first! It was 2,200 posts I ported over! I’ve kept everything except the meme posts, or just a post about a link that’s long since dead.
And after being buried in these old 2001/2002 posts for the past couple of days I can tell you – time travel DOES exist. I come back out of those entries into the “real” world and it’s a shock, it’s like I’ve been back in 2001 and suddenly I’ve teleported to 2016. It’s a trip.
Now if I can only find my old 1998-2000 “Free talk” posts that pre-dated blogger… I’ll have a nearly complete collection.
